I opened a Bangkok Bank account by DTV. Currently the account has been locked for 2 weeks without a due date. Does anyone in the group know a lawyer to go with me to the bank to request a refund or sue? A few million baht. Leave a comment and I will dm you. Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user reported that their account with Bangkok Bank has been locked for over two weeks, and they are seeking a lawyer to help request a refund or take legal action due to concerns about a significant amount of money frozen in the account. Other community members suggest that the account was likely frozen due to anti-money laundering regulations and caution that showing proof of the source of funds can help in releasing the account. Many comments underscore the importance of visiting the bank directly and emphasize that accounts opened under a tourist visa, like the DTV visa, might be subject to stricter scrutiny.
Welcome to Thailand! A country where people are granted five-year visas for attending a two-week cooking class, and where bank accounts opened through regular staff can be closed without explanation. Please never consider anything acquired here as permanent. No rule doesn't always mean possible or legal.

Go to the bank and find out more information about your account

Lawyer isn’t really going to help, but they will gladly take your money though.

You're American aren't you? You're going to sue? What a joke

I thought you didn't need a Thai bank account to get a DTV visa?
Can't the 15k funds be from any bank outside of Thailand, just the equivalent of 15k baht
If the money is legit, take proof with you to the bank and they'll release the funds immediately. If the money isn't legit, then the bank is doing their job properly and you should probably be leaving the country.
close ok.but can't keep my money without any due date. I care about my money, not my account

Anonymous participant bottom line... The bank is Closing All accounts opened using the Thai tourist visa, in the recent year....and the DTV visa is classed as a tourist visa.
Anonymous participant you don't need to sue anyone, just go to your branch and show them the source of the money.

You need to clear your account. Where did your money come from? Bank transfer slip to Thailand. Banks are permitted to lock your account if it is deemed suspicious under anti-money laundering regulations.

Banks are investigating many accounts, go yourself again, no need for a lawyer to hold your hand, just a large expense and no result. I'm sure if there is no suspicious activity your account will be unfrozen.Just go and make an appointment to speak to the branch manager
Anonymous participant if there is nothing wrong with the source of fund, it should be ok.

What nationality are you? Which city did you open the account?

Go to the branch and speak with them directly. If you have no suspect transactions you will be fine l would suggest. Take a lawyer to sue the bank you joking right . Remember where you are and your status is alien 🤣🤣🤣
I went to the branch 2 weeks ago. No due date for me

Anonieme deelnemer as a property owner it’s no problem to have a Thai bank account. Just visit the branch where you opened your account and ask them to check everything is okay.
If for example your Thai phone number is not registered on exactly the same name as your bank account, then that might be a reason to block your account as well.
Make sure it’s the same branch as where you opened the account. Another branch often won’t/can’t help you.

Anonymous participant did an agent open the account for you
It was announced they will suspend accounts a few weeks ago. Go in person and speak to them, some accounts can have the suspension lifted if not they return your money.
