What can US citizens do if they experience payment issues while applying for a Thailand METV?

I want to note that my husband and I, US citizens, applied at the same time earlier this week for our METV’s using the same credit card. His payment would not be accepted. He tried multiple times using different computers, different credit cards, and making 3 different applications. etc. We contacted the Thai Embassy and the Visa Officer advised to change browsers, clear the cache, among other things and to wait 15 minutes before trying again and to use a bank debit card. It finally went through, but what we found out is that the Thai Bank - Kasikorn- rejected the card payment and contacted the bank in the US. The US, bank in turn, contacted my husband and asked if he wanted to authorize this payment. As soon as he said yes and resubmitted payment, the application was processed. The Thai Embassy said this has been happening a lot since the Visa Application was revised. The Visa Officer was great and tried to be so helpful during this stressful and frustration time.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A couple of US citizens faced issues with their METV application payments, with one spouse's payment being repeatedly rejected. After multiple attempts, contacting the Thai Embassy, and advice to change browsers and use a bank debit card, the payment was finally processed. The Thai Bank flagged the transaction for fraud when it originated from Thailand, which is a common occurrence according to the Visa Officer. Other users commented on similar experiences regarding payment processing issues, highlighting the importance of informing card issuers about international travel.

I had the same thing happen. Gave up after 3 tries.

Make sure you tell your card issuers that you are going overseas or you might find you cant use them when you get to Thailand.

Has nothing to do with the new system. Many banks in the US are not equipped to handle 3D verification which is what the banks in Thailand use. After you found a bank that did accept it, it got flagged for fraud because the charge came from Thailand. Nothing unusual and you can find other posts of people having similar issues since e-visa started 2 years ago.
