I went to deposit cash -Thai baht- into a CDM with Bangkok Bank into my account and they charged me a fee. They charged me money to give them my money... into their bank.
Is this normal? Do all banks in Thailand do this? It makes no sense to me. TiT?
TLDR : Answer Summary
The original question discusses the frustration of being charged a fee for depositing cash into a bank account at Bangkok Bank, questioning the norm of such practices in Thailand. Many commenters agree that this is a common occurrence across various banks in Thailand, particularly when transactions occur outside the registered province of the bank account, leading to service fees ranging from 12 to 20 THB. Some users noted that using ATMs or cash deposit machines (CDMs) in different provinces usually incurs charges, but pointed out alternatives, such as free withdrawals through banking apps. Overall, these fees are seen as a frustrating aspect of banking in Thailand, often prompting discussions about global banking practices.
