Why do the admins keep closing comments? I watch this group all the time and I'd like to see more information on posts and even opinions. I'd love to see the group stop closing posts and let members add their information and experiences please.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Members of the Thai Visa Advice group have voiced concerns about the admins frequently closing comments on posts. The admins explain that this is to prevent discussions from going off-topic and to manage misinformation, especially related to visas and bureaucracy. They encourage members to start their own threads for additional commentary. The focus of the group is strictly on Thai visa matters, and discussions that drift too far from this are discouraged to maintain clarity and relevance.

An important post from

ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS:

I think it's time for another refresher course about the group.

As you might glean reading the title of the group (Thai visa advice) this group is about THAI visas/extensions and things related to those tasks.

What this group is NOT about is

how to get married here

how to get divorced here

how to get granted parental rights

how to get a certificate of residence

how to get your degree certified

how to get a work permit

how to get a thai driver's license

how to open a bank account

how to get to the border or a thai consulate

how to get a thai a visa to go to another country

For the above things GOOGLE is your friend or post on a f/b group related to where you live in thailand.

The group has a very limited scope of THAI VISA related things and as you might expect thai visa related things are very knowledge intensive AND situationally specific.

Feel free to contribute to threads BUT please stay on topic. If someone is asking about getting a Non-B visa at xxx consulate, don't post your advice about a Non-O, if they're talking about the thai consulate in Savannakhet, your advice about Vientiane is worthless, if someone is talking about border bouncing, don't regal us with your tales of flying out and back. STAY ON TOPIC.

Feel free to ask about visa agencies in OTHER COUNTRIES that help you get visas for thailand at the consulates there, and feel free to ask about visa run, border bounce companies that lug people to the border and/or the nearby thai consulates in other countries to get visas for thailand.

BUT

The group has a zero tolerance policy asking, mentioning, or recommending an in country visa agency that will "push paper" and/or "hold your hand" to get an in country visa or extension. Posts like that will be deleted and people who post those will be warned, muted or booted. You wanna find a paper-pushing, hand holding visa agency Google is your friend, this group is NOT.

One last thing; IF any members are messaged by someone saying they can offer a visa service or help in any way please forward the message or a screen grab to the admin/moderating team. We have 33K members and we can't be sure some unscrupulous visa agents or agencies haven't infiltrated the ranks.

Thanx one and all for being a member of the most up to date and most accurate group about thai visas on f/b and possibly on the entire tiny part of the inter-web that is thai related :P

Steve See...

If there is a post which has been closed and you have helpful comment you wish to add, please message any on the Mod/Admin Team. We will reopen it for you.

Until then when a question has been asked and good / correct advice is given... we close the post to commenting.

And with increased volume of coronavisa related questions, its even more important at this time to close commenting timely.

Thank you for your concern.

And you may wish to look at other Facebook groups more suited to Chat Room discussions.

Many visa are on personal circumstances, many people have different types of visa, every entry into Thailand is a case by case decision of the Officer. Why keep post open and make this a bar talk experience. If you like that, join other visa pages as there are enough where you can discuss endless about your visa and the differences with the visa of another person.

This page is for asking the question, get a correct and to the point answer.

The other MAJOR problem is misinformation. Admin have to keep a tight rein on confirmed information, especially in relation to border checkpoints and local embassies

I think the problem is at the moment the threads are going off topic. The group is very active at this time and there's nothing to stop you asking a question by starting your own thread
