Why are comments closed on Thai visa advice threads before I can respond?

Twice in the past couple of days I have tried responding to at least part of someone's question or ask a follow up question related to what another questioner included in their comment and before I could complete my comment, comments were turned off.. it's really rather frustrating, wonder why I even bother either to try and provide helpful info to someone else or learn something helpful for myself..

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post expresses frustration with the closure of comments on Thai visa advice threads, which prevents users from providing helpful information or asking follow-up questions. Other comments in the thread discuss the rationale behind moderating comments, the challenges in managing misinformation, and the community rules regarding comment closure.

DJ Gap if its the one I just reopened, I did so as I am suspicious the young teacher is being misled. Another Tourist Visa is not what he needs. His school or agent is not delivering on their promise to provide work permit to legally teach.

However..update. ..the good news is that he is applying for a NonB for Teaching.

Believe me it is NOT our intention to stop constructive conversation and/or the dissemination of accurate information.

I am sorry that happened. It's a tough job running the group.

We used to leave comments open and what ended up happening was, the O/P would get the correct answer and some well meaning wing-nut who didn't know shit from Shinola would come on and post bad info.

That's when we started closing the threads as soon as the correct answer was given. It just got to be too much to run herd on all the posts and correcting the bad information.
