Hello!

I've seen a lot of mixed messages in regards to applying for ED Visas to learn/train in Muay Thai.

1. Is it possible to get an ED visa to learn Muay Thai (Yes I do actually want to learn/train).

1. If so, can anybody recommend a great training camp please?

Cheers!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question discusses the possibility of obtaining an ED visa to learn Muay Thai in Thailand. Multiple comments confirm that Muay Thai training is eligible for an ED visa, as long as the applicant is genuinely committed to the training. Recommendations for Muay Thai training camps include Tiger Muay Thai and a gym in Rangsit, Bangkok. Caution is advised against using the visa merely for staying in Thailand without attending classes, as this can lead to visa cancellations.

I would not recommend committing to any muay thai gym for a year. The trainers are gonna get lazy once they know you paid ahead. Also, after you ask for the price, you are gonna get the price for training 2 times per day. You should ask how much for 1 time per day. That's how I always get 40% off. Plus, the gyms that make those types of visas are mega gyms for foreigners. If you wanna learn real muay thai, you should look for gyms that are relying on local fighters.

Word to the wise. If you don’t intend on actually studying Muay Thai and are using the visa as simply a means to stay in the country, you could have problems. Not saying this is your intention, I have personally known a few people on Ed visas who have had them canceled because they didn’t attend class

So no issue if you obtain an MT ED visa and don’t show up to gym? I kinda doubt that it’s kosher to get one and then proceed to NOT to train. I would not recommend doing such a thing, I’m sure an IO would say the same thing. But if someone wants to get a MT Ed visa and not use it for what it was intended for, go right ahead.

In fact you can get a ED language visa and never show up and never write a test. Depends where you sign in. And if you wanna do the same with MT (which doesnt make sense and thats also what the thred starter DONT want) just talk with the kru. Would be the first thai who doesnt like get money without work. But again, if you only want ED visa find the right school/agent and there is no test and no school for 12 months. Your friends just stupid and went to the wrong school.

Bla Bla, language has 2 tests. MT ED has none. This thread is about MT ED Visa.

You know ppl with canceled muay thai ed visa?

Wasn’t for Muay Thai, was for Thai language. The point is, use the visa for the purpose it was issued for. Best not to scam the system by getting an education visa and then proceeding to NOT study, and simply using the visa because one has exhausted all other legit pathways to stay in the kingdom

Thanks Garrett. Honestly, I'm not fussy about where, I just want to make sure I go to a decent training camp.
