What are the steps to obtain an ED visa for Muay Thai in Thailand, and how does it differ from a tourist visa regarding application limits?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain an ED visa for Muay Thai, first find a school willing to sponsor you. Depending on the school's requirements, you may need to apply at the embassy in your home country or enter Thailand on a tourist visa and then convert it to an ED visa. After arriving, report to your school for necessary documentation and approvals to submit to immigration. Additionally, there is no limit to how many times a tourist visa can be applied for, although there are limits on visa exemptions for land entries.

I would look at schools that do the visa for you... There is likely an additional charge or its part of the cost. If you're confused now you will most certainly be confused when trying something like and ED visa. Thai visas/Thai government is freaking nuts, in part because I don't speak the language, in part because the Thai government is little goofy (all governments really).

No limit for tourist visas. There is a limit on visa exemption by land (entering Thailand without visa).

I'm paying about $800 USD for one year of language classes. 4 days a week, 2 hrs per day.

This plus visiting immigration to check in every few months.

no real limit. Depends on the immigration agent you get. You may just have to "help them out a little bit"

Because when you get to your immigration checkup and they ask you to speak Thai you can usually gey away with a limited amount of Thai words... However, A muay thai visa. The immigration guy at your check in, brings out one of their fighters and unleashes on you in their training gum at immigration to see what you've learnt at training. Id rather look dumb than get smashed by a Nak Muay.... Loads of people getting these visas and not doing what they said they would do... like turn upto lessons being part of their visa reqs.

yes 100% serious ser.

Nak Muay will come and test your Muay Thai skills

If you been training for 6 months then they will send buakaw to fight you, you need to survive 30 seconds without getting knocked the fuck out

That will show that you have been practicing your guards well. If you get knocked out then it means you haven't been attending classes and you'll be deported

Get a Thai Language Education visa

First you find a school that is willing to sponsor you for the visa. You talk to the school and find out their procedure. Do they want you to apply for your visa at the embassy in your home country before you travel to Thailand, or do they want you to come as a tourist and convert to the ED visa in Thailand?

If they want you to apply first then you go online and apply for the visa with the documents the school sends you.

If they want you to travel to Thailand first, then you go to Thailand and follow the instructions of the school. Usually they will need you to report to the school shortly after arrival so they can take copies of your passport and your entry stamp so they can submit them to the Ministry of Education for approval. Once it's approved then they give you documents to take to immigration to apply for the visa conversion. It can take multiple weeks to get all of this done and you need at least 15-21 days left on your stay in Thailand to apply for the ED visa, so you need to move quickly once you arrive.
