What should my friend do about her incorrectly issued 60-day TR visa stamp in Thailand?

Hi everyone, a question about incorrect stamps. A friend of mine recently went to extend her 60 day TR visa (Swiss passport). As I understand it, thou must first get the normal 30 day extension before applying for any covid 60 day.

However, she was given a stamp for 60 days. I received 30 days with my British passport at the same immigration office in Ko Phangan (we went on the same day when everyone was doing there last minute covid extensions).

So I presume her 60 day stamp might have been an administrative error. I donโ€™t want her to have any issues if she goes again after 60 days and attempts another extension/ or even leaves but after the time period of what the stamp should have been.

Has she been blessed by an extra 30 days? Will there be any issues if she carries on as though it is effectively a 60 day official stamp? Or is it going to cause her definite problems upon exiting or extending if she uses the 60 days as per her stamp.

Thank you so much for your helpful advice as always ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฅฐ

Edit: her 60 days was due to expire on 4th feb. she was stamped until 6th April. so she got an extra 60 days as a normal extension to her 60 day TR Visa. (the extension should normally be only 30 days).

I'm not sure why admin rejected the post. Can she rely on the stamp and carry on as though she had a 60 day extension, or will she have to go to amend the stamp to 30 days?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user seeks advice regarding a friend's 60-day stamp issued in error by Thai immigration for a 60-day Tourist Visa (TR) extension. Unlike the standard 30-day extension, the friend received a 60-day stamp, which might be an administrative error. The user is concerned about potential overstaying and future visa extension issues if the incorrect stamp is relied upon. Comments suggest verification with immigration to ascertain the legitimacy of the stamp and whether it adheres to the COVID extension protocols.

I think OP got what she needed. If anything further you need here, please contact one of the administrators/moderators to reopen this post.

Haz Ghazaleh OH, okay, I think she did get a bad stamp. There is NO เธ‚เธญ 5 notation on that stamp <- that's the covid extension for 60 days clause

All I see is that it was extended based on clause 2.4 <-that's tourism and it should ONLY be a 30 day extension,

You are correct she might indeed be stamped in wrong

GO BACK to the immigration office that gave that stamp and make sure. The last thing you need is for her to have gotten a bad stamp, thinking she can stay 60 days when it's really 30 and have her run on overstay because the stamp was wrong

seems they made a mistake with the stamp and it should been 6 March not April. Best to go back to get corrected otherwise can become messy after

my friend. If it has the nr. "5" written on it it's a COVID extension. Send a picture to check

I suspect your friend was given a COVID extension...post copy of the stamp and we can better tell what it is.
