How can I rectify an incorrect entry stamp for a Thai tourist visa and extend our stay?

Hi all ! Please help !

My boyfriend and I both applied for and were approved for 60 day single entry tourist visas. When we arrived in Thailand we went through immigration in 2 different lines so 2 different immigration officers.

My stamp in my passport says date of exit is 18 July. Which is 2 months and correct. My boyfriends stamp says 18 June. Which is then 30 days… and obviously a little incorrect as we applied for a 60 day visa.

Now we are planning on going to do a visa extension at the Phuket immigration office on Wendsday next week. My question is will the both of us be able to extend by a month granting us 3 months in total in Thailand ?

Will there be an issue with that as the stamp in boyfriends passport? Will he only get 2 months in total ?

If so is there a way we can rectify this ?

Thank you !

Update

We had to go back to the airport but from there it was as simple as showing a security guard and then going back up to immigration for them to fix the stamp. Took about 20 minutes at the airport 🇹🇭

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking assistance after noticing a discrepancy in the entry stamp dates for themselves and their boyfriend upon arrival in Thailand, where one was incorrectly stamped for 30 days instead of the 60-day tourist visa issued. They are planning to go to the Phuket immigration office for a visa extension and inquire whether both can obtain the extension despite the stamp error. Community members suggest going back to the airport to rectify the stamp and share personal experiences of successfully rectifying similar issues at immigration offices.

3 tips for the future to help avoid this problem:

1) Put your visa number on your TM-6 Arrival Card (the one you get on the plane or after you land at the airport) in the Visa No. field AND write what you have, for example, TOURIST VISA (or RE-ENTRY PERMIT) in that field.

2) Fold over the page in your passport that contains the visa or stamp. They will go to that page and unfold it. This calls the Immigration Officer's (IO) attention to the fact that you have a visa (and are not arriving visa-exempt). Also, put the TM-6 Arrival card in your passport at this page. Again, calls attention to your visa/stamp.

3) Take a moment to look very carefully at your entry stamp, in particular, the permission to stay until date, BEFORE you walk away from the IO. If you are expecting 60 days make sure you got 60 days. If you only got 30 days. Bring this to the IO's attention BEFORE you leave his presence. Extremely easy to fix at this point.

4). If you have an e-visa print it out and hand it over together with the passport!

Almost certainly you’ll need to go to Phuket airport to get the stamp corrected. You can ask at Phuket Town office, but I’m guessing that they’ll tell you to go to the airport.

You have to be alert, I entered on a 60 day and was stamped for 30 luckily I spotted it and the IO changed it immediately

Your best bet is to return to the airport you crossed immigration at and ask them if they can fix it. You'll need the visa as well. The longer it has been since you arrived, the less likely they will do it.

There's a small chance the immigration office of the province of the airport you entered in can do it as well, but the place you received the stamp at (the airport) is always the best odds.

If you arrived in Bangkok and hope to get it fixed it phuket, that's not possible.

a few years ago, I was stamped in for only 30 days even though I had a visa. I went to immigration at Udon Thani and after some discussion, they revised my departure date consistent with the visa.

flights arrive around the clock. I don't know that there is a specific office. Just try to find a security guard or immigration officer and tell them you need to discuss the entry stamp and they should be able to guide you.

The Thai word for immigration is pronounced dtaw maw (the end sound of both words is like draw or straw)

are you sure we can’t go to the immigration office here in Patong 🙈 just quite expensive to get all the way to the airport and back 🙈

@Blair *******
you can try that first tomorrow if you want. They may help you or just send you to the airport

You need to go to immigration and fix the entry stamp first, the officer probably had his stamper on the wrong month. After that, apply for the extension.
