Morning all! Re the covid extension, a friend said she only received a 30 days stamp recently in koh phangan, & when she questioned it they said “this is how it is in january”.. has anyone been to phangan or samui the last few days & did you receive the normal 60?

TIA

*edit: she says she has previously received the 60 day covid extension

Happy new year & always! 🥳

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquires about recent experiences with COVID visa extensions in Koh Phangan, as a friend received only a 30-day stamp instead of the usual 60-day extension. The conversation reveals confusion and varying experiences regarding immigration processes, with suggestions to confirm the type of stamp received and mention of differing practices between immigration offices in Koh Phangan and Samui.

would love to see the actual stamp. COVID extensions have a "5" handwritten on it

does it matter if its a friend, friend of friend, or cousin 3 times removed? The OP question is the focus 😬

@Mia *******
Well yeah as the story gets passed along the plot thickens, as others said, check it’s not an ‘under consideration stamp’

The KP office is constantly making up their own rules (usually to scam people for more money). If this continues, it’s sometimes best to go to Samui.

this is incorrect. KPNG Are usually closer to national norms.

they’ve been reported several times and had to stop.

I find it entertaining how people on the internet think they can tell someone what their lived experience is. Perhaps you had a different experience?

Yes, I have a lot of experience of immigration offices in Samui, KPNG, Phuket, Phang Nga and BKK. Samui is by far the most lenient. KPNG is a subordinate of Suratthani not Samui and is also a new office therefore will follow the rules more closely.

I see. Just happy to have options.

Did she get a stamp that says “under consideration “?

Has she received the 60days extension before or is this her first time applying for an extension since arriving in Thailand?

@Johnny ******
yes she said she has 60 days covid extension previously

Are you sure they didn't just get the standard 30 day extension? Most immigration offices require you get the 30 day normal extension first before you are allowed to apply for the 60 day Covid one.
