Can my friend face an overstay fine after a 2-month extension on a 30-day visa exempt entry?

ORIGINAL POSTERAsking for a friend. They are currently on a 30 day visa exempt entry. They then asked immigration if they could extend it. However immigration extended it by 2 months. I think this must be a mistake as it has always been 30 days before. My concern is could they recieve an over stay fine maybe? I am thinking this because maybe the immigration data base has only been updated for 30 days. Anyone else experienced this?

ORIGINAL POSTEROK. Firstly notice the IO forgot to stamp an overstay from 24 Sept—02 Oct 2018. On 02 Oct the IO also forgot to stamp an exit stamp from Thailand. But was stamped into Malaysia despite this.
They then entered Thailand again on 02 Oct 2018 on a visa exempt entry. On the 31 Oct they extended their visa. Notice that the extension stamp is until the 30 Dec 2018.
I understand it should have only been for 30 days and they should go and get it corrected.
However if they play the ignorance card and wait until the 30 Dec 2018 before exiting as the stamp in their passport shows, will they get into any sort of trouble? For example have to pay an overstay fine or made to go back to their immigration office and get the stamp corrected and then obviously will have to pay an overstay fine?
Or will they be simply stamped out without a problem?
Just want to make my friend aware of all possibilities. Thanks for your advice in advance.

you refer to THEM, do you mean two people sneaked pass airport Immigration and left without paying the overstay? And TWO people came back, passed Immigration and both got 60days extension. If that is true than a trip to Immigration in your area is in order.

, okay, IF they did not get that extension based on marriage to a thai or based on visiting thai family here they were stamped by mistake and they WILL be on overstay AND fined for it if they foolishly think they can stay for 60 days on a 30 day extension to a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp. It is the passport holder's responsibility to make sure they are stamped in for the correct amount of time.

Your passport = your responsibility.

it is the person HOLDING the passport that is required to make sure they are stamped in for the correct amount of time AND that get a stamp corrected IF it is wrong.
If you stay longer you will be fined for overstay when they stamp you out of the country

this stamp IS a 30 day visa exempt stamp that I assume has ผ.30 stamped or written on it as far as the visa class.
Seeing as they entered the country AFTER their yearly extension expired they got in on a 30 day visa exempt entry.
UNLESS the blanked out portion of that extension says "thai wife" in engrish OR has thai written on it stating they're visiting thai family (both valid reasons to get a 60 day extension) they received that 60 day extension in ERROR and need to go correct the stamp at the immigration office that issued the extension.
Seeing as they entered the country AFTER their yearly extension expired they got in on a 30 day visa exempt entry.

that stamp WAS a year extension issued on the 24th of Oct 2017 and good until the 24th of Sept 2018.
It has nothing to do with the 30 day extension they got when they entered visa exempt

There is only ONE 60 day extension available and that requires you be married to a thai national or raising children here..
IF not (and if they didn't turn in documentation to support the above extension) they were stamped in wrong and need to go correct the stamp.
One thing to take into consideration when you apply for a 30 day extension it's ADDED to the expiration date of your current stamp. Applying for a 30 day extension on a 30 day visa exempt entry shortly after arriving in the country "could" appear like you were given a 60 day extension when in reality all they did was add 30 days to your current stamps expiration date ;)
Post a picture of the passport entry stamp and extension if you can't figure it out
