What issues might I face at Thai immigration with a DTV visa if I mistakenly listed the wrong hotel?

Hey all - I’m flying into Bangkok this Friday with my DTV visa and wanted to check if anyone has encountered any issues at immigration or during the integration process before receiving the DTV stamp.

I’m a bit concerned because I mistakenly listed the wrong hotel on my DTV application. I'll actually be staying at an Airbnb instead. Has anyone faced a similar situation, and if so, how did you handle it?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus among community members is that you should not face significant issues at immigration with a DTV visa, even if you've listed the wrong hotel on your application. The immigration officer may take some time if they are unfamiliar with the DTV visa, but the place where you're actually staying, such as an Airbnb, typically doesn't matter. Additionally, ensure you have a printed copy of your visa details, as you will receive a standard entry stamp noting your DTV status rather than a DTV stamp itself.

They will likely take you to a backroom and question you for a couple of hours. It's one of those, dark rooms with a single light source, where the Immigration Officer (IO) stands next to the light so you can fully see them. They won't ask questions in English and they will not provide you a translator. After a few hours they will provide you a piece of paper you MUST sign (strange that they speak English for this part). The paper will be one of two things, your deportation order or your "welcome to Thailand" letter. You will not know which one until after you leave the room and they walk you to the correct line (coming to Thailand or Leaving Thailand).

I just messing with you... You will have nothing to worry about. A lot people use bogus hotel reservations to get visas. IO don't check.. When you arrive you are required to notify immigration where you stay. This is usually done by the hotel. You will need to make sure this gets done if you plan to extend your visa.

No worries...plan change, found better accommodation

Perhaps its also a good advice to check the stamp as soon as you get it to make sure they stamped 180 days from entering correctly. 😉

Don't worry. Just show your DTV sticker or pdf.

Yes make sure you have a printed copy of the visa details as well to give to immigration with your passport,

And you wont be getting a DTV stamp, just a standard entry stamp, with DTV noted. You have to keep your pdf for your next visit as thats your visa.

Nothing to be worried

The only issue you are likely to experience is that the immigration officer has not seen a DTV yet and will need to call over a supervisor, so expect the process to take longer than normal. But you'll still probably end up waiting for your bags afterwards, so it's not much of an issue.

Where you are staying has no relevance at all.

This happened to me last Friday. Immigration officer had to call supervisor over. Both were very apologetic. I think they were just trying to figure out the exact date of 180 days
