TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat shared an update about their visa application, stating they reapplied after their initial application was rejected due to mistakes related to the issuing authority of their passport. Users advised to ensure the correct issuing country is filled in both places on the application and suggested writing an explanatory letter for clarity. Many users shared their experiences of similar issues with the visa application process in Thailand and offered support.

Yeah, your passport wasn't issued in Bangkok, you may have picked it up from your embassy in Bangkok, but it was still issued by whoever normally issues passports in your country, eg, for the UK it's HMPO.

Same thing happened to be when I applied for my DTV in Hanoi. I then re applied and it was fine.

A french passport is issued by the French government even if itās via an embassy. So issuing country is France. In my experience.
Maybe add a letter where you clearly explain that?
I added a letter to explain some confusing details just in case, and got approvedā¦

Just put your own country in both fields. Most embassy employees don't know what country is what, they just see your nationality and that's the only thing that matters.

From experience, you should know there are 2 places you can potentially make this mistake.
The first place is on the very first page/step where you choose the passport issue country and the visa application country, and the next one is the page where you upload your passport data page and provide issuing authority.
I made a mistake in the first one, note that the passport issue country on that first page step would be France. And the issuing authority would be exactly as it is written on your passport data page.

Mine is US but also issued in Bangkok. Am I supposed to write that anywhere on the actual official visa application. I like the idea of writing a letter about it to include as well that's a good idea. I never even considered my passport being issued in Thailand as something I needed to maybe write on the application. I imagine they mean country who issued it. Your embassy technically is your countries soil not Thailand right?
if you choose to apply again, you should take screenshots and screen recording of your application before you submit, then if they claim you made a mistake again, you can challenge it. Otherwise it is hard to prove that the problem is on their end.

I think you should put "Embassy of France - Bangkok". I am Brazilian and my passport was issued in Yangon Myanmar. I put "Embassy of Brazil - Yangon - Myanmar".

You should have said your passport was issued by France

They claimed I misspelled my own last name. I checked it like 3 times yet somehow I forgot to spell my OWN name š¤·š¼āāļø. Of course, they cancel ā the whole application and take your $300 rather than give you a chance to correct. Scam š

I think you should have put "France" in place of issue. Many ppl have had this problem/ confusion b4. It sucks...

theyāll make you pay again and do a new application. Thatās what they did for me when their compute system auto filled my middle names many times and it ended up not matching my passport. Itās ridiculous

Sounds a bit like you haven't put the right thing for issuing authority/place of issue
the problem is there is no consistency on this. Some want exactly what's written on the passport, and this is also what they say they want. This is what OP wrote, his passport was issued at the French Embassy Bangkok and he copied exactly that from the passport. But others don't want what's written there but rather want your country repeated, or maybe the city. How is an applicant to know? Plenty of people say "copy exactly as on passport". But if it's not your home country, or a city in your home country, that often leads to rejection. Or, it may not, if it's an embassy that does want that.

Mr 5 Bank Accounts pretty simple, you send an email to immigration and ask them what to put. They use you respond within a day, while they did for me
