I have overstayed my visa by a week, I was told that I must fly out now to reset It, a border run isn’t an option anymore since I went over is that true?
If thats true and I fly to Malaysia, can I fly back the same day or do I have to stay for at least 24 hours?
Thank you in advance for your help!
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has overstayed their Thai visa by a week and is concerned about the next steps. They were informed that border runs are not an option and are curious if they can fly to Malaysia and return the same day. Several commenters confirm that while one can pay a fine of 500 baht per day overstayed at the airport, it is advisable to stay away for at least a couple of days to avoid complications upon re-entry. Others caution that re-entering Thailand soon after an overstay may lead to scrutiny from immigration authorities. The general consensus is to stay longer (preferably outside Thailand) to improve the chances of a smooth return.
