My partner is here on a 30 day reentry visa. We have a flight booked out of Thailand the day after this visa runs out (we weren't sure of the dates and so therefore mistook the time period)
We are worried as online it states that he will be fined with a possible van from entering back into Thailand in the future. Does anyone have any advice or know what we can do?
Currently we have the idea of leaving for loas the day after his visa runs out to them return to Thailand to stay another 30 day visa.
Thank you for any advice you can give us ☺️

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking advice regarding their partner's situation of overstaying a 30-day reentry visa by one day due to a flight booking error. They are concerned about potential fines and future visa complications. Community responses indicate that a minor overstay (one day) usually does not result in a fine if handled at exit immigration, but overstaying more than a day incurs a fee of 500 baht per day. Moreover, most overstayers have not faced bans, but caution is advised as extreme cases have occurred. Leaving for Laos and returning to Thailand is a potential solution discussed.
Thousands and thousands of people have done similar. They’ve mistimed their flights out resulting in a one or two day overstay. In 99.99% of cases it’s not an issue one day, you get a stamp but no fine. Any more and it’s a 500 baht per day over fine. Up to a max of 20,000 baht. In some extreme cases people stopped at a checkpoint before getting to an airport or border have been arrested, taken to courts and banned. It’s very rare but does happen. Best to avoid overstay if you can, but In most cases not a disaster if you can’t. Doesn’t impede any further visits to Thailand if you have one. There is one consulate in Malaysia that won’t issue you with a tourist visa is you have an overstay stamp but that was pre covid and I have no idea if their policy still exists.
You will not be banned. I have overstayed twice. First time was 1 day and second time was 2 days. I payed the fines and was allowed back into the country with no problems. It's 500 bht for each day over .
If you're one day overstay, when you go through exit immigration at the airport, you'll get an overstay stamp in your passport but the fee will be waived.
If you're caught by the police, that's when you could potentially be banned.
