I am currently in Bangkok on a non-O visa. I am Canadian and can enter VISA free for 60 days. I don't intend to extend my non-O visa so I am not getting a re-entry permit on my way to Vietnam where I will apply for a a DTV e-visa.
Do I have to wait for the result of my application as I need to fly back to Bangkok the following day. If my VISA is approved on my way back I could technically check when I arrive in Bangkok but I have nowhere to print a copy to show to the IO. So my question is can I just enter Bangkok on 60-day VISA free and activate the DTV Visa the next time I re-enter Bangkok? Has anyone been on a similar situation?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently in Bangkok on a non-O visa and is planning to apply for a DTV e-visa while in Vietnam. They are uncertain if they can return to Bangkok on a 60-day visa-free entry, leaving their DTV application pending. The discussion includes advice about potential processing times for visas, implications of not having a printed copy of the DTV approval upon re-entry, and suggestions to reconsider the travel plan to avoid risks.
Look at the desired Embassy website for information about expected number of days to proces the application, and then set aside at least that number to stay there until the visa is approved.
Have in mind the fee is 10.000+ Baht, which most people dont want to loose, if the visa is rejected
Forget Vietnam... go to Taipei and wait for the DTV visa approval...you risk losing the game you are playing with the Thai Visa.
Are you now working in Thailand?
Why the rush to return to Thailand on the next day after you submit the DTV visa application using the Evisa online application system while in Vietnam..?
What are you going to do if they request added information?
Anonymous participant the in person application process provides for nearly immediate acceptance of the documents presented, they do not accept the visa fee unless they expect the application to be approved.
Regardless it appears that you have made up your mind, for whatever reason, the absolute need to return ASAP/next day to Thailand.
