Can I take my son to Thailand on a visa exemption while his DTV visa application is pending?

Hello everyone,

I am a DTV visa holder. I have applied for a DTV visa for my son online at the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Qingdao, and the current status is "pending approval." I would like to ask if I can take my son to enter Thailand with a visa exemption while the application is still pending. Will this affect the current visa process?

Thank you very much for your help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about taking their son to Thailand using a visa exemption while their DTV visa application is pending. Responses confirm that entering Thailand on a visa exemption will not affect the ongoing visa application process, but to activate the new DTV visa after approval, he will need to exit Thailand and re-enter.

It doesn't affect that he enters with visa exemption. Once he got visa out and in again with DTV.

From what I understand, yes. He would enter Thailand with a tourist visa. But to validate the DTV visa, he would need to leave and re-enter with the new visa.
