Dear all,

Had to book air ticket (DEL-BKK-DEL) for some urgent works & meet.. as JULY 25, landing in Thailand & flying back on AUGUST 13.

So it’s 5 days extra as I understand for now we (Indian national) can have VOA valid for 15 days only.

So would like to request to please guide 🙏🏼🙏🏼 for this as:

Q1. As staying for 5 extra days…

I’m aware that I should be paying ฿500/ day as fine totalling ฿2500

&

Q2. Does VOA office need to see ticket within 15 days OR I hope they do allow as it’s 20 day ticket already. Provided i’m ready to pay the fine as per rules.

TIA 🙏🏼

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice regarding an upcoming trip to Thailand on a Visa on Arrival (VoA) for 15 days, however, they have booked a return ticket for 20 days later, leading to a potential 5-day overstay. They inquire about penalties for overstaying and the requirements for their return ticket. Community responses emphasize the severe consequences of overstaying, including significant fines, deportation, and potential bans from future travel to Thailand. Suggestions include obtaining a tourist visa for a longer stay or traveling to a nearby country to re-enter Thailand without overstaying.

You won't be getting on that plane

I wouldn't suggest overstaying. If you must spend 20 days in Thailand, then when your 15 days VoA expires, visit a nearby country and return to Thailand and get a new VoA.

In their visa applications, most other countries ask if you've ever overstayed in any country, and you'll have to mention Thailand each time. You'll have to live with this overstay your entire life, so make a wise decision.

If your return ticket is more than 15 days, you won't be able to board the flight.

You will not even be allowed in the country or even allowed to board a flight from India with a return flight more than 15 days out on a VOA entry.

There's no 7 days extension or any other nonsense being suggested allowed

1. vOA can’t extend stay, not allowed for VOA countries

2. Don’t think it’s only fine, you might be banned for future travel as well, it’s on immigration officer to decide

3. You need return ticket the day VOA expires otherwise they will deny entry, even they don’t give time book ticket at immigration counter

3. Apply visa for 30 days and travel,

4. Last option, travel back to India and next day travel to bangkok so that u can get 15 days VOA(immigration officer might ask lot of questions, I think this is the only option if you cant get visa as it’s already 20th jul

1. VOA's cannot be extended, however they can still apply for an extension, be denied, and get the 7 day extension denied stamp.

2. Immigration officer doesn't decide if you get blacklisted or not. Blacklisting is a legal processes.

3 Tourist visas are for 60 days, not 30

It doesn’t stay banned for short stay, these are case by case, depends on number of days overstay, that’s why I say immigration officer decides(it means they go as per the rule, they don’t decide themselves)

For VOA extension, they can apply, if they dont get extention, it means VOA won’t get extention as per the rule.. we give info of final output so that they can get prepared if you tell them you can apply but it will be denied, logically they can do but it don’t get answer what they are looking for plan trip properly

You may have time to go to the embassy/consulate to get a tourist visa and save all the heartache. Good luck.

Dont overstay and dont think to pay fine as 500 per day. If you caught overstating, you will be heavily fined and deported. On the last day of your voa, go to immigration office at Chaeng Watthana. Pay there 1900 Baht and get 7 days extension. Check required document etc. to get 7 days on immigration website. And you can book your ticket beyond voa, but not more than 15+7 days. It may they ask you why you book your return ticket beyond voa validity. Then you can answer that you will extend for 7 days later.

@Wayne ********
yes sir. Indian passport can get 15+7 days or 60+7 days as on tourist visa. To get 7 days for Indian passport not a problem on any type of visa.

@Singh ****
it’s applicable for visa tourists not for VOA, pls cross verify
