What should I do about my pending Thai visa application after cancelling my flight?

i applied for a DTV at the London embassy on 1st December 2025. My flight was originally scheduled for today (31st December 2025). The application has been stuck on "Pending Document Approval" since I applied. I tried emailing and messaging the embassy on facebook, to no avail.

I have since cancelled the flight out to Thailand as I had no choice but to cancel outside of 24 hrs notice.

My question are, what are my options now? I have already submitted my flight and accommodation information as requested - which shows me flying out today (31st December). The embassy have no way of knowing that I've cancelled my flight.

Will they just reject my application and I lose the application fee?

Any help is appreciated. Happy new year.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has applied for a DTV visa at the London embassy but is facing delays as the application is stuck on 'Pending Document Approval.' They've cancelled their flight scheduled for today and are concerned about the implications for their visa application. Various comments suggest that while the embassy may ask for updated flight information, cancelling the flight should not automatically result in the rejection of the application or loss of the application fee. It is advised to inform the embassy about the cancellation to keep them updated.

Thai embassies aren't open again till 5 January

I'm no expert but my thought is send an email stating you have cancelled your flight just so they know you are still in the country and the application isn't cancelled or rejected. In truth I think they would know if you flew out of the UK from immigration and it would show on their computer

/26. it’s pretty poor way to carry on given the faff getting into thailand of late. it’ll only help destroy thai tourism as folk just can’t be bothered with all the aggravation

new gov next year so expect changes

I tend to agree with you unfortunately. More tourists will head to neighbouring countries, like Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and the Philippines. As the Thai Tourist Authority have already warned the government! I hope they take heed!

tourism isn't really affected. Rules remain the same. 60 days without a visa is pretty good for tourists and it's effortless too. What is being complained about is not being able to live in Thailand with extensions and back to back border bounces. There's lots of alternative visa options.

assume it will be the individual. I'd make sure you CC the group email they use if you know it.

All on holidays Thai Public holidays and U.K. holidays, you just have to wait for approval(if granted), then travel to Thailand when it suits you, you have 5 years from the date of approval to enjoy GL

I applied for mine with the Los Angeles office on a Saturday night at 10pm. I got an email at 9am on Monday morning asking for 2 years of tax returns. I was approved for the DTV at 11am

I'd have gotten a 60 day entry then once it was approved had a nice few days somewhere then back

I had to do that once for a non-o

That doesnt fill me with confidence, applied 19th dec, no change in app and I fly 21st Jan, so virtually same time scale

hopefully they are just busy dealing with lots of applications. Others have had similar problems and been asked to rebook flight with a free change option. It's unlikely an embassy will assume you used that ticket and flew out without your DTV, but some people have done that.

Its a five years visa and they will not cancel your application just because of this.

Someone made a similar post about London earlier. The embassy asked them for a new flight 15-30 days later while they processed the visa. So they're not going to just cancel your application. But they might ask you for new flight information.

thanks. That post you refer to was relating to a flight in the future. My flight, as of today is in the past , so I do think its a slightly different scenario.
Lynnette *******
KnowledgeableFrog7031 think the reply is relevant to you. Your dtv hadn't been approved yet. They may ask for a new flight date.

@Lynnette ******
its not if the embassy assume I have taken the flight and left the country of application without the DTV being approved. Thanks
Lynnette *******
KnowledgeableFrog7031 Why would they "assume" you left . . if they ask for a new flight date. Brandon's given you a likely scenario. You've cancelled the flight and rebooked so now you have an updated departure date to give them if they ask.

they haven't asked for a new flight. The only information they have is that my flight is scheduled for today. The scenario is different. This is my last response. Thanks
Lynnette *******
KnowledgeableFrog7031 you're determined to ignore any help from the expert on here. You only want a particular answer that you agree with. So why ask?

i haven't ignored the information. I have received it, processed it, understood the similarities and pointed out the differences in both scenarios - as they are different. Its called dialogue.

I'm not sure if you're bored on new years eve and being deliberately difficult or if there's something else driving this but either way, have a happy new year.
Lynnette *******
KnowledgeableFrog7031 Lol. I'm not being difficult at all. Nor am I bored. You had some constructive help from a moderator/ expert, but you don't like what's he's said so being difficult about it. Up to you.

I don’t think the embassy will assume anything.
