What should I do if my Thai visa application is still pending before my flight?

What should I do? My flight is on Tuesday, 17th December, but I still haven’t received any response. Applied at Bucharest embassy.

Today 14.12: the status remains unchanged. There have been no updates, emails, or requests for additional documents.

Timeline:

• 03.12: Status: Pending Document Check

• 05.12: Status: Pending Approval

• 10.12: Status: Pending Document Check

What steps should I take now?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing an urgent situation where their visa application remains pending just days before their scheduled flight to Thailand. They have received no communication from the embassy in Bucharest regarding their application status, which has fluctuated between 'Pending Document Check' and 'Pending Approval'. Community members suggest various strategies, such as entering Thailand on a visa exemption and then doing a border run once the visa is approved, while others caution against traveling if it might jeopardize the visa application. The overarching advice includes checking for email updates, considering flight rescheduling, and maintaining communication with the embassy.

Pay a bit more and reschedule your flight to a later date.

Do not listen to people telling you to travel and do a border run once your visa is approved. If you put your travel date on the 17th in your application and the visa is not approved yet they will ask for a flight ticket at a later date. If you already flew and cannot provide it they will refuse your application

You could try stay in transit area (that way immigration won’t even register you that you are there) and fly to Cambodia and wait there for some days until it’s approved. Idk just a theory. Might work.

How do you get your luggage without passing immigration?

you can tell on first airport where you start that it’s not your final destination. For example you start in fra to sin then bkk and if you add now pnh then you tell your airline counter in fra that you will go to pnh and can show ticket. I had such a situation in the past.

When booking flights at same time under same reservation number this normally works, but in other cases it might be difficult.
Kevin ********
You are right! It might be difficult because they need a airline interline agreement. I just googled about it and if airlines dont have an agreement you have to pick it up in bkk.

Call them, email them, do they have visiting hours for visa inquiries?

The fact it's gone back to "Pending Document Check" would indicate to me that they have asked for further information. Check your email including your spam folder.

As I mentioned in the post, I’ve checked everything—emails, spam folders, and all—but still no response.

Anonymous participant actually you didn't, but never mind. What countries passport do you hold?

The best thing you could do is change your flight and wait till the visa is approved

You should always calculate that visa approval takes a few weeks sometimes.

That is why the advice is to apply between 1 and 3 months before travel

We don't know what is your nationality as first

But if we assume that you are a Romanian

So use your ticket to come to Thailand so you won't lose it

Then you will arrive with 60 days visa exemption.

If later on your DTV visa issued

Then fly out to any nearby country and come in Thailand again using DTV to enter

Or can do a border Bounce to Cambodia and activate it

Good luck

Fly in, you will be fine. Once approved just do a border bounce with a company. The immigration officers will have no clue you have applied for DTV. The consulate officials doing your DTV will have no clue you are entering Thailand.
Luit *****************
Anonieme deelnemer 144 The officials doing the DTV can check if you entered in Thailand if they want, but perhaps won't do.

@Luit ****************
if they could check they wouldn’t need you to provide proof of location
Luit *****************
Anonieme deelnemer 144 That is a stupid argument, a lot of things they can check, but nevertheless they will ask you.

But the proof of location is not about proving you are NOT in Thailand, but proof you are IN the country where you apply.

That are 2 completely different things.

Do you really think they will not register when you stay in Thailand?

Can you fly in on a visa exempt? Then just do a border run once visa is approved
Stef *****
@Charles *********
no don't do that specially if you gave your travel date! They will ask for a ticket at a later date (once your visa is approved) or refuse
