What should I do if my DTV visa application is still pending approval before my flight back to Thailand?

Hi everyone,

I applied for my DTV visa on April 1st via the official website in Hanoi, Vietnam, and my visa is still pending approval. My flight back is scheduled for Wednesday at the end of the day, and I’m getting worried about the timing because Monday its holidays in both countries 😢

Has anyone experienced a similar situation? Should I contact the embassy immediately to get an update, or is it normal to wait a little longer? I’d really appreciate any advice or recommendations you might have.

Thank you very much!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about their pending DTV visa application submitted in Hanoi, Vietnam, just before their scheduled flight back to Thailand. They are seeking advice on whether to contact the embassy for an update or if it's normal to wait longer for approval, especially with a holiday occurring soon. Responses from other users suggest that delays are common and recommend waiting, potentially changing the flight if necessary.

Astrologically, anything to do with communications and short term travel has been in review/slower mode for nearly 3 weeks. This shifts on Monday evening so there's a good chance your visa will come through in time.

Need to wait there. Change the flight if needed. My visa was granted on a national holiday in that country (that way wasn't a holiday in Thailand, tho).

that's not what the rules say. The rules are clear. Yet many have been able to do what you say without trouble, many others have been called for an interview even after they left the other country.

I don't have the screenshot here, but when I applied online it was written in big uppercase red letters that even if they SUSPECTED I had left Korea (where I applied), they would cancel my application. I'm sure it's still written somewhere on the Embassy website, will upload later if I find it.

Mine took approx 5 days from Hanoi embassy and arrived the day after I got back to Thailand. I then did a border bounce to activate the visa. Not the ideal method but it is possible. Can you not change your return flight?

when did you applied for the visa?

I can change my flight, my concern its about my visa in Vietnam, they only gave me the visa for the same amount of days as my ticket flight.

Do you have any recommendations for border bounce?

November last year I got mine. I used an agency in Samui for my bounce and was very efficient. All depends where u live in Thailand I guess! Why did they only give you 5 day stamp for Vietnam? I got like 30 days I believe

overstaying? I don't know the rules of Vietnam or what visa you have. But no one should ever overstay their visa
