What happens to my DTV application if I travel to Thailand without it?

Hey Everyone,

I applied for DTV a few weeks ago (Thai Embassy Munich) and haven’t received it yet.

I am arriving in Thailand tomorrow!

Which is not a problem for now, since I am just staying for 70 Days and can just use tourist visa + go to immigration for extension after 60 days

(Or maybe get an agency, who does this for me?)

BUT do you know if my DTV application is terminated, when I travel to Thailand without it? Because in the application they asked for my flight and day of arrival😬

That would be very sad to just spend the money for nothing

Thanks for your help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has applied for a DTV visa but hasn't received it yet, despite arriving in Thailand soon. They are concerned if entering Thailand without this visa will lead to its cancellation since the embassy requires flight details. Several commenters suggest that the application might be canceled if the embassy finds out they have entered the country, while others note the possibility of having to re-enter Thailand to activate the visa if issued. The overall sentiment indicates uncertainty about the application's status and potential risks involved.

Likely you’ll be approved and have to re enter to activate it. But there’s a chance it’ll be cancelled. Unlikely though tbh

My friend went for an extension in Pattaya and received only 7 days

call them up and cancel it due to them taking to long .

if his visa is issued he can still use it for a later entry and the rest of the 5 years ;)

yeah, that’ll teach them! 🙄

As you have left the Country you applied from, yes they may cancel, they will know if you have left Germany and entered Thailand. Best wait to see if you get approved or not🤔

I believe if your visa is issued but you have already travelled it would not be valid until you actually use it at immigration ? So you would need to re enter for it to become valid hope that helps, alternative is maybe go to an immigration office and see what they say

@Martyn ******
it is valid for 5 years from the date of issue

If you do arrive without it I think you may have to exit and renter Thailand to activate your dtv I’m not to sure.

If the embassy finds out you entered Thailand, they might cancel your application. I've heard some of the embassies and consulates in Germany are a little flexible on that though. And the odds of them finding out aren't all that high.

Of greater concern is if the call you for an interview, but that's also not very likely.
