I want to visit Thailand for 3-4 months. I don't have 800,000 baht in the bank! What is the best visa/visa renewal combination for me as a UK citizen? I am happy to leave for a neighbouring country and return.
Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
To visit Thailand for 3-4 months without having 800,000 baht in the bank, a UK citizen can use a combination of visa options. They can enter Thailand on a 60-day visa exemption and then apply for a 30-day extension for a total of 90 days. After 50 days, they should leave Thailand for a nearby country and return, allowing them to obtain another 60-day visa exemption. Alternatively, they can apply for a single-entry tourist visa (60 days + 30 days extension) prior to entry or consider a multi-entry tourism visa for up to six months.

I am on an METV , and with careful planning you could potentially stay almost eight months by re- entering Thailand a couple of days before the visa expires . I donât plan on doing â extensionâ as this ( quite rightly upsets immigration ) . Good luck whichever method you choose and enjoy wonderful Thailand
If you donât have any recent extensive entry history, you should normally be able to travel without a visa. I recommend limiting your stay to 60 days -that is, using the 60 day visa exempt entry without applying for the 30 day local extension- before travelling to a neighbouring country and staying there a few days before re-entering Thailand. You must be able to show an onward ticket (or a return ticket home) within the 60 days you are stamped in for at each entry into Thailand.
