If you get denied a visa extension for over staying a few days. What happens? I understand you pay a fine but then you have a few more days to get your things and leave the country or they escort you to the airport.

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you get denied a visa extension in Thailand after overstaying, you typically receive an "extension not approved" stamp, allowing you 7 days to leave the country. For short overstays, you can still apply for an extension after paying a fine of 500 baht for each day overstayed, plus a fee of 1900 baht for the extension application. It's important not to overstay and then seek an extension, as denial may lead to being required to leave the country immediately.

There's not much to be said more as far as whether you can get an extension or not.
You either go to the immigration office and try for it (where they'll either give it to you or they won't) or you don't ..
I sure wouldn't overstay AND then show up and try for an extension ๐
We wish the O/P good luck in their endeavor

In the unlikely event that happens if you go to Immigration (not picked up at a police check) you will get a 7 days to leave Thailand stamp and you must leave

and why would you be denied an extension for overstaying? As a rule a short overstay doesn't stop you from getting your extension. You pay the overstay fine of 500baht a day and then apply for the extension for 1900baht.
No if you're denied an extension, you usually get offered the "extension not approved" stamp for 1900baht that gives you 7 days to get out of the country.

The emergency passport I had to get because I had so many stamps I ran out of pages and they told me to get a real one would take 4-6 weeks when I was on a 30 day visa. I have been to Malaysia and back on the emergency visa but never tried getting a Thai Visa extension with it. Some have said it's not possible others say it is.
