What documents will I need for a 12-month extension on a 90-day Non-O visa as a dependent spouse in Thailand?

I have just got the 90 day non-o trailing spouse / dependent visa at Penang and I wanted to ask if anyone knows what my local immigration is likely to need for my 12 month extension.

Before you say ask your local immigration. I have and as I'm English with English husband they were unsure but said get the 90 day then come back and they would try and find what I needed.

I'm passing through Bangkok on my way back to Pai so if I am likely to need translation of marriage cert or whatever I'd like to get that sorted while I'm in Bangkok rather than have to travel back down from Pai.

I tried to post this question before but was declined as it's not a visa question? Not surprising I can't find the answer on the search ๐Ÿ˜

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has obtained a 90-day Non-O visa as a trailing spouse and is inquiring about the required documents for a 12-month extension at a local immigration office. Given that there is uncertainty regarding the specific documents needed, especially for a foreigner-married-to-foreigner situation, it is suggested to bring marriage documents, passports, and financial verification. Experiences indicate varying requirements across immigration offices, particularly in less centralized locations like Pai. The user is advised to possibly obtain notarization or an apostille for their marriage certificate before returning to Pai.

We're and English married couple, we do our visa in Chiang Mai, our marriage certificate was already notarised. When we applied for trailing spouse visa here in Chiang Mai we were told we needed to get an apostille put on it, which required sending it to the UK. Last year immigration also required the certificate to be stamped by the Thai embassy in London. Of course all immigration offices have different requirements, hopefully Pai requirements are less.

I think you should post on a Pai group too Liz just to cover your bases but I honestly believe it's gonna take you going back, sitting down with them with your husband, his passport, your marriage documents, his banking documents, and your passport to see WHAT needs what..

Factor in that if you are from the UK, married in the UK and that marriage certificate needs certifying you can't get it done INSIDE the country as the Brit embassy doesn't do it ๐Ÿ˜ฎ It's gotta be sent back to the UK in Milton Keynes for that if I remember correctly

I don't think there's anything you can do but slog on back to Pai, go meet up with the immigration officers with your documentation and see what's what.

BUT

Let's see what kinda comments you get. No harm in letting it run a bit and see ๐Ÿ™‚

I let this post on

BUT

I want people to know this is NOT a foreigner married to a thai extension question.

This is foreigner/foreigner, one on presumably a "retirement visa/extension" and Liz on a new 90 day Non-O as "trailing spouse"

She's also using an out of the way small immigration office in Pai province, which makes it even more tricky as they march to the beat of their own drum up there ๐Ÿ˜› .
