Hi there I just need some advice and clarity for what I am doing and applying for. I lived in Bangkok before for over 6 years working as an English Teacher. I also have a Thai wife and 2 boys. I returned back to England about 3 years ago for multiple reason am only returning now.

I wish to get over there and then land a teaching job securing another visa through that. I’m not sure if a tourist visa or non immigrant visa o is best. I have more than enough in my bank as evidence and a letter of invitation. I booked my flight for 17th Jan and hotel with 1 night test and go. I didn’t start my Thai pass so now will change my hotel to 7days quarantine. I do however already have my insurance and booked my PCR test this end. I’m double vaccinated and will print out certificates. So main questions are what have I missed and what Visa should I apply for?

Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, who previously lived in Bangkok for over six years as an English teacher, plans to return to Thailand to secure a teaching job while being married to a Thai citizen. They are considering whether to apply for a tourist visa or a non-immigrant visa O and are inquiring about the necessary requirements and steps for their visa application. A comment suggests applying for a 90-day single entry Non-O visa based on marriage, which allows for a one-year extension upon meeting specific financial criteria.

You can apply for a 90 day single entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai from the thai consulate in the UK online at the eVisa site

That will stamp you in for 90 days when you arrive and then you can apply for a year extension based on marriage to a thai once you're here by showing you have 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for the extension.

and on that type of visa/extension (Non-O based on marriage) you can work without needing to switch visa types because you can hold a work permit on it no problem
