Non O marriage visa renewal

Hi Group.

I have to renew my non O marriage visa at the end of June, this will be year 2 so the first time I’ve renewed it. I’m hoping it’s easier than the first time. There’s quite a lot of rules in Nonthaburi where I’m based. I think I remember the money in the account only needs to be there for at least 60 days before the date, not 90 days like the initial application. Any help much appreciated.

Many thanks,

D

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the process and requirements for renewing a Non O marriage visa in Thailand, specifically focusing on the applicant's experience in Nonthaburi. It seeks clarification on whether the financial requirement is different for renewal, noting that it seems to be a more streamlined process than the initial application. Community members advise consulting the local immigration office for up-to-date information, confirming that requirements such as financial documentation and witness statements might remain the same as the first application. The confusion about whether the process is a renewal or a new application is highlighted.

Apart from the required paper work that you already have X2 copies.

1. A letter from your local (Amphoe) district office stating marriage status.

2. Letter from your local bank stating 2 months bank account status.

Bit confused year 2, so how did you do year 1 surely exactly the same, check with immigration at the office you do the 90 day report if the same place.

I will check. It was a lot to do for year 1. I’m away for work. Can’t ask until I’m back in a few weeks. Thanks

the rules in Nonthaburi are not any more or less than they are at most other immigration offices.

I suggest (as others have) you GO with your thai wife to the immigration office and get the most recent hand out they have listing the requirements, (copies, bank letter, statement, photos, marriage documents, etc) well before you're going to apply for the yearly extension.

Hi Tod. Thanks for your help. I will go to the office with my wife and ask (I can’t now. I’m away for a work for a few more weeks so was trying to get a heads up.) The first time I had to bring a family member for an interview as a witness. And also have a neighbour available as a witness when they made the home visit. As well as the photos I had to take and then the photos they took again when they visited. I was presuming this is something I would only do once, to establish my home and my marriage. Nothing’s changed in the last year. But you’re saying I may have to repeat all that every single year? It was a lot to do and organise with peoples schedules. Thanks for your help 🙏🏽

the witness thing is office specific,

𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿?

That's exactly what I'm saying 😮

The copies, photos, documents, bank letters, wife's i/d, house book, your TM30, lease, bank letter, statement, etc, all that stuff you supply year after year.

Extensions only last one year and you're applying for a new one every year, no matter how many years in a row you've done it, it's a new application

Yes you need to show 400.000THB or more for the last two months at Thai bank before visa application or 12 months statement if you have 40.000+ THB monthly incomes from abroad (SWIFT) and certificate from your embassy. So you have two options.

most Immigration Offices do not accept the 40k monthly international transfers, only proof of salary from within Thailand

I live 8 years on Non-O marriage with 12 months statements every year. It is my real experience in Pattaya and my friends in Bangkok also. Salary is not enough. You need to confirm by real tax.

so either you are not one of the most or, probably, because you have been doing this for 8 years you are still allowed to do it by what is known as grandfathering

Suggest you visit your local Thai Immigration office and ask for their current requirements for the One year extension of stay as Married to Thai. That way you will know what you need.

It's usually VERY similar to when you first obtained your first one year extension from the Non O Visa as Married to Thai.

thanks James. I guess I’ll go and ask. The first year I had to bring a human witness into the office and also have another witness when they made the home visit. It seems a little strange they would want to repeat that for a renewal.
