Hello All,

I am an American, currently on a 1 year Non-O marriage visa that ends April 11. I just read that I must have my 400,000 in the bank 3 months in advance. I thought it was only 2 months, but I see that might only be for the first time. What is correct? 2 month, 3 months? Also if I am past the date that I am required to have the money in the bank, what are my options. Thank you in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
An American currently holding a 1-year Non-O marriage visa questions the correct duration for maintaining 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account before their visa renewal application—2 months or 3 months—and inquires about options if they miss this requirement. Comments clarify that generally, funds need to be in the account for 2 months before applying but suggest checking with the local immigration office as policies may vary. An option for a 60-day extension is also mentioned.

As a general rule, your funds must sit in your Thai bank account 2 months prior to your application date, not the date your current extension is expired. But some offices could have a longer period. The best is to check with your local immigration office about their policy.

In case you don't have enough days to season your funds in your account and IF you haven't gotten Visiting Thai family extension on your current entry yet, you can apply for that extension for 60 days to secure your 2 months period for seasoning.

sorry to ask a follow up question, but I just thought of it.

If I use this marriage extension, will it interfere with work permit based on the normal marriage visa

nope not at all, shouldn't affect it in the least as you're getting that 60 days based on marriage to a thai which is the same extension you have now for the year

Thank you for the quick response, I appreciate it. I will contact my local office and confirm with them what their policy is. I might be needing to use that Thai Family extension if its not enough time. Thanks again
