Hi team, ive finally made it back & almost finished quarantine in BKK.

I’m hoping to be in thailand 6 months per year, possibly more so am planning to apply for a non-o 12 month visa with marriage to Thai.

Ive arrived on a TR60 visa and plan on extending for 30 days.

I have legalised my marriage certificate back in UK

I’m just about to transfer 400k to my Thai bank account ageing it for 2 months..

I will report to CM Immigration on Wednesday with mrs to get the mt30 sorted.. I understand there is an app now that can be setup whilst there?

Do I apply when the money has aged at 2months, or shall I start it soon if it takes a while?

Also- does the bank account have to be over 400k all year or just the two months upto renewal?

Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has returned to Thailand and is planning to apply for a Non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai national. They are currently on a TR60 tourist visa and intend to extend it for another 30 days. They have legalized their marriage certificate from the UK and are in the process of transferring 400,000 THB to their Thai bank account to meet the financial requirements for the visa application. They inquire about the timing of applying for the visa once the funds have aged for 2 months, and whether they need to maintain the balance of 400,000 THB in the account throughout the year or just for the two months prior to renewal. The responses indicate that the two-month seasoning of funds only applies to the yearly extension, and the initial application can be made without that requirement.

there are actually loads of little Amphurs within CM you can go to for your kor ror 22. Just go along with your wife and get a few originals because they always ask for them at the immigration when you go for your extension of stay. It usually takes an hour or so getting the kor ror 22 as they have to enter details etc. Good Luck

Okay, lets sort this out. You come here on the tourist visa, you apply for the in country Non-O visa for 2000baht,

It's good for 90 days,

when that runs down and your funds are seasoned in your account for 2 months you apply for the year extension for 1900baht.

IF you want to after that you get a re-entry permit that keeps your stamp 'alive' so if you came back during that year you'd get stamped in until the expiration date

OR you get a non-O visa from the thai consulate in your country based on marriage before you come here by showing proof of funds there,

Arrive, get stamped in for 90 days and you can take a 60 day visit thai family extension (without proof of funds) <- that gives you 5 months in country without too much trouble,

OR

You could even come in on a single entry tourist visa, get the 60 days, extend that by the regular extension of 30 days and then apply for a 60 day visit family extension which would also get you 5 months.

The thing is you can only get that 60 day visit family extension ONCE per entry.

Hi Tod, thanks.. whats a Kot Ror 22? Where is the Amphur?

, once you get your home in Chiang Mai, talk with your wife. She knows what Kor Ror 22 is and where is Amphur city hall in CM. You don't have to go to one in Bangkok.

brilliant, thank you.. one last question; can you recommend a service to translate the marriage certificate? Guessing it needs to be in Thai

@Stephen ********
nope, post on a Chiang Mai group and ask up there. you're straying far from the scope of the group 😉

the Kor Ror 22 proves you’re still married. The Amphur is the city hall. I know Bangkok has a few, but I don’t know where they are located

That is great you legalized the marriage certificate (that means you were married to a thai in the UK). I would also go to the Amphur and file a Kor Ror 22 <- that's the document they give you to show that a thai was married abroad but the marriage is registered at the Amphur.

In Chiang Mai you need 21 days left on your current 60 day entry stamp or the 30 day extension from it to apply for an in country Non-O visa.

There is no requirement that the funds be seasoned at all in a thai bank account in your name only to apply for the initial 90 day Non-O visa.

The 2 month seasoning rule is when you apply for the yearly extension only.

Most offices want you to have the 400K baht in the account for the 2 months before you apply and then for the 30 days the year extension is under consideration (but some only require it the 2 months before)

Now to get the Non-O visa/extension based on marriage is a two step process that requires four visits to immigrations 😮

Here's how it breaks down

Visit 1 - You apply for the visa for 2000baht,

You get date to come back 20 days later

Visit 2 - you go back with your passport and receipt and they stamp a Non-O visa and a new 90 day stamp in your passport

THEN you wait until your funds are seasoned the 2 months

Visit 3 - you apply for the year extension for 1900baht

You get an under consideration stamp for 30 days

Visit 4 - when that stamp runs out you go back and get the year extension inked in

no, there is no 90days extension on Non-O visa/extension. 1-year extension or in your case, 60days family visit extension (which you can apply once per entry/visa) are the type of extensions you can apply for.

In-country Non-O visa is No entry because you are already inside Thailand (no need to 'enter').

Once you get a 1-year extension, you can get a re-entry permit (single or multiple entry) BEFORE you leave Thailand, then you can come back on the extension you already have.

I read your post, and there is no such thing as a 12 month non-o visa. There is a multiple entry non-oa visa that allows a person to stay for one year on each entry.

Is the Non-OA visa the visa you are trying to get?

oh blimey Benjamin, id like a visa that had the least amount of renewals that enables me to spend 6 months a year here at the lowest cost.. I thought the non-o visa extended on marriage was the best option.. and if that lasts 12 months, I could return on it too
