Its time for me to renew my Non-O Visa. It expires on the 23rd of December. I have the required funds in my bank account already. What documents do I need to have to process the renewal? I was told I need a years worth of bank documents and a visit to Bank of Bangkok yielded a 2 week wait due to a bank holiday next week but was told I could get 6 months on the spot. I decided to walk out and figure out exactly what I needed before tackling this task. Any help would be appreciated. Knowing there may be differences in various immigration offices I live in Chiang Mai.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To renew your Non-O Visa in Chiang Mai, you'll need to demonstrate financial capability, typically by showing at least 800,000 Baht for the last two months and 400,000 Baht for the preceding nine months. Documentation usually requires a year's worth of bank statements to confirm that funds haven't dipped below the minimum required amount. Given your current situation with potential bank delays, you might consider obtaining a 6-month bank statement for quicker processing but be aware that some immigration offices may have different requirements. It's recommended to directly consult your local Immigration office for specific documentation needs.

As this is your second extension of a non immigrant O (O-A) is different.

You need to show at least 800k Baht for the last 2 months, 400j for the 9 months before that and 800k 1 month after your last extension.

The 800,000 is required for 2 or 3 months before you apply. The 12 months statements are presumably to show that it hasn't ever dipped below 400,000 in the last year (as that is a requirement)?

As said:'Knowing there may be differences in various immigration offices I live in Chiang Mai", ask your local Immigration office.

Which O visa? There's quite a few

So you need a statement from the bank verifying this, which is dated within the last seven days when you apply. You also need to update your bankbook on the day you apply.

So that was my confusion. I thought I read online that I needed proof of funds for the last 2-3 months. Not sure why my visa agent was telling me I needed a years worth. So I only need to obtain statements for a maximum of 6 months correct?

Jerry Butteris. Is this your first extension?

Jerry Butteris. Ok. So your visa has already expired. When you said you were renewing your visa I thought it was first extension. So you need to show 800k for the last two months, and 400k for the rest of the year.

if this is your second one year extension then your agent was correct. You need your bank statement to show that you had at least bt400,000 in your account for the whole year, and the bt800,000 in your account for three months after your extension, and now bt800,000 in your account for the last three months. The two month requirement is only for your first extension. Every year after the first extension the bt800,000 has to be in there for three months before, and two months after, totalling five months, and the account can never drop below bt400,000. This is why your agent told you a full year of statements verified in a letter from your bank.

no. If renewing an extension the funds have to stay in for three months after renewal, can’t drop below 400K and balance needs to be back up to 800k two months prior to applying for your next one.

thanks! Much appreciated. You are correct. I did go to immigration for clarification and what you just stated was related to me.

Jerry Butteris. So you've had 800k in the bank for the last two months?

You also need to complete a TM7 form with a photo. Not generally requested but bring your last TM30 and also last 90 day report. Passport and TM6 of course
