What are the requirements for registering a TM30 and should I book a hostel for my visa extension in Thailand?

TM30 Visa Extension Question

I stay in an unused condo that is owned by some Thai friends so they are technically not "landlords" and have not had to register guests through the TM30 portal before.

Is it complicated for them to register me?

Or should I book a stay in a hostel so they can do it for me? If so, how many nights do I need to book (I've seen different answers from 1-5 nights) and should the dates of the stay be the same as my current visa expiry date +/- a day(s) on either side?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The TM30 registration process requires that the property owner report any foreign guests. Since the condo you're staying in belongs to Thai friends, they are technically the landlords and have a responsibility to register you. It’s advisable to check if they are willing to register you, but if that’s complicated, booking a night at a hotel might be a simpler alternative. A one-night booking is generally sufficient, as the accommodation slip can be valid for up to five days. Ensure you confirm with the hotel that they will file the TM30 and obtain a printed proof for your immigration visit.

It is not "unused" if you are staying there. They are the owners so have a legal responsibility to report an alien staying. You can sidestep it by booking into a hotel. One night would be enough, but do check with the hotel reception that they have filed the TM30, and ask them to print out proof for you to take away

The “landlords / houseowners” are those who have the yellow housebook, which are one of the needed documents to make the TM30 report ( and why the guest / tourist are not able to make the TM30)

book 1 day, and the slip is valid for 5 days if i am not wrong.
