TM30 question.
I arrived in Thailand weeks ago.
Been staying with friends (Thai locals) who own their own domestic property here.
Will be staying for another month or so.
I was unaware of the TM30 protocol.
Have just raised it with them and they said they "forgot", as they do not make a habit of accommodating foreign guests (they are also not very good at following government edicts unless they have no other options, I have come to realise).
I don't need any hassles infringing upon my holiday and don't want them to have problems, either.
Can we attend at the local immigration office and say I am staying with these friends from now or will I be interrogated to show (prove) where I've been living since my arrival date?
I did spend a few days at a hotel in Bangkok a couple of weeks ago but the rest of my time has been spent here.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The TM30 protocol requires foreigners in Thailand to be registered based on their accommodation. Since you are staying with Thai friends, it's advisable to formally register your accommodation to remain compliant. Although some users have reported that they faced no issues when leaving Thailand without proper TM30 registration, it's best practice to register where you are currently staying. You can visit the local immigration office to clarify your accommodation status, but be prepared to provide details about your previous stay at a hotel in Bangkok. If your stay is less than 60 days, it may not raise significant problems.
