What should I do about TM30 registration if I've been staying with friends in Thailand?

TM30 question.

I arrived in Thailand weeks ago.

Been staying with friends (Thai locals) who own their own domestic property here.

Will be staying for another month or so.

I was unaware of the TM30 protocol.

Have just raised it with them and they said they "forgot", as they do not make a habit of accommodating foreign guests (they are also not very good at following government edicts unless they have no other options, I have come to realise).

I don't need any hassles infringing upon my holiday and don't want them to have problems, either.

Can we attend at the local immigration office and say I am staying with these friends from now or will I be interrogated to show (prove) where I've been living since my arrival date?

I did spend a few days at a hotel in Bangkok a couple of weeks ago but the rest of my time has been spent here.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The TM30 protocol requires foreigners in Thailand to be registered based on their accommodation. Since you are staying with Thai friends, it's advisable to formally register your accommodation to remain compliant. Although some users have reported that they faced no issues when leaving Thailand without proper TM30 registration, it's best practice to register where you are currently staying. You can visit the local immigration office to clarify your accommodation status, but be prepared to provide details about your previous stay at a hotel in Bangkok. If your stay is less than 60 days, it may not raise significant problems.

No, just forget about it. Never asked for it in several in/out trips in the past few years.

I was in Bangkok with (Thai) wife. Checked in with wife's I'd. They didn't want to know about my passport. No issues leaving Thailand. Done this before.

I stay with family of my late wife when visiting Thailand. One on the younger girls had created an account on the tm30 portal and does the registration online, she sends me a screenshot when done

If you do not have to do an extension it won't be a problem.

You are likely registered tm30 in the Hotel, your Last registered stay.

To be completely legal you should be registered where you are now.

But if you are leaving without having to deal with immigration for anything, they will not know.

I'll very likely be extending 30 days towards the end of my 60 exempt period so feel I should probably get a TM30 in place, for peace of mind.
