TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a Residence Certificate in Thailand, which is often required for applying for a driver's license, you may need the following documents: your passport, a rental agreement, a copy of your house book, and a copy of your landlord's ID. Additionally, ensure that your landlord has registered your stay. Some immigration offices may also ask for a TM30 form, a health certificate, and a recent photograph. Fees may vary by location, but it typically costs around 300 THB at immigration offices. If you have a work permit that shows your address, it might exempt you from needing the certificate.

They need to put your address in your licence. I was told if you had a work permit with your address in it or a TM60 receipt you didn’t need the certificate. If you apply they ask for passport, lease for accommodation and letter from landlord. It’s free I think at immigration but around 2500 baht from the embassy.

You may also need to get health certificate

Passport and tm30, i done mine yesterday had leave my passport over night at immigration then pick up that with the letter the next day and take it to the sorting office ( was no fee in immigration but had pay 130 bhat at the sorting office) this was in samui so don't take my word as there will be no fee and different at each immigration what they will require . Forgot to mention you need a photo. Hope this helps

It's 300thb at your immigration. Bring your passport, your rental agreement, copy housebook and copy ID of landlord. Make sure your landlord has registered you before.

Some immigration offices don't let you apply for a residence certificate unless you have already done your first 90 day report. Some will let you get it though. I don't know what's needed to apply for one, but if you can't get one at immigration, your embassy may be able to give you one as well.

its easier at your embassy. My charged me 150 baht and the cert was issued in 3 hours. All they need was a rental contract or a phone bill, utilities bill sent to your house

some places also require you to be on a long term stay. They did for me despite having a residence certificate

just a question can you get a thai license at some license centres just by showing a tm30 instead of a residence certificate?

@Phil *****
no you can't. The only thing they accept from a foreigner is your work permit if it has your address in it, a residency letter from immigration, or a notarized letter from your embassy. There are some other ways, but you don't have permanent residency so isn't relevant.

I just had mine and only toke the tm30 passport and photo, and I'm not here on a work permit.

I have just done my 90 days ,just I don't know what to take their .I don't know whether I only have to take my passport and work permit .

look at your work permit. If it has your address in it, then that will work, but many now don't have the address so you need the residency letter.

@Renau *****
if you have a tm30 filed just go along with your passport and a photo, fill out the form and they should give it to you. Some may also want photocopy of passport, visa and extension stamps

they will also want to see your 90 day report receipt, with the date the next report is due.
