Italian passport holders coming to Thailand for a short holiday, tickets booked already from 28 of January to 28 of feb. Just realised that they’re staying for more than 30 days, what options do they have? I’ve heard there is a fine they could pay per day of over stay... any advice is appreciated!

TLDR : Answer Summary
Italian passport holders coming to Thailand for a holiday and staying over 30 days have a couple of options: they can either apply for a 30-day extension at an immigration office for 1,900 baht, or they can choose to pay a fine of 500 baht for each day of overstay. In this case, since they plan to overstay by only one day, paying the fine might be the cheapest option.
Thank you guys, looking at the dates they’re landing one day later so it’ll be only one day they will be overstaying I think the cheapest option will be to pay the fine for that one day.
Two options. 1. Get a Single Entry Tourist Visa from the Thai Embassy before you make you way here and get 60 days of stay on entry. 2. Or as mentioned apply at an Immigration Office for a 30 day Extension of Stay.
Seeing as the departure is not until late January, it leaves them plenty of time to acquire a turist visa from the nearest Thai embassy. That would both be the cheapest option (while avoiding overstay), and they would not have to spend potentially a whole day of the holiday in an immigration office to extend their 30 day visa exempt.
