TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK passport holder in Thailand who has stayed for 32 days and exceeded the 30-day limit can extend their stay by applying for a 30-day tourist extension at a local immigration office for a fee of 1,900 baht. Alternatively, they can take a short trip to a neighboring country and return to Thailand for another 30 days. There are concerns about being asked for an onward ticket at the airport, but experiences vary, with some travelers reporting they were never asked. It's recommended to have a plan in case of inquiry and to act quickly to avoid additional overstay fees.
get to your local immigration office and apply for an extension

Our flight came in at 23:35 and by the time we got to immigration it was already after midnight so we were stamped in for the next day. If you have a round trip ticket I don’t believe you will have a problem. I once did the same as you and was told not to worry it happens all the time. It’s not like you are staying 10 or 20 days over, it was a simple error and the Thais understand. It will cost 500 baht per day. Relax and enjoy 😊
That’s what you want and the Thais want you to enjoy as well.
Apply for the tr60 visa before you travel, cost £30 and very easy to do

When going to Thailand for 31 - 60 ( 90 )days, the 60 days touristvisa is the best option.
It is cheaper than visaexcempt + 30 days extension.
No need of a onward ticket ( 90 days 1 onward ), if returnticket within 60 days.
It is easier to apply from the comfort of your home.

Not wasting holiday time to find, go to and waiting at a immigration office ( 90 you would need that ).
No need to leave Thailand in up to 90 days.

Thank you everyone we’ll book a cheap flight and write it off, not travelling from UK so hence my stress levels have been high.

You’ll need a flight out in case your airlines asks. You can buy any inexpensive flight you can find or get an “onward ticket” (search online) that’s a throw away ticket for this precise purpose. Beyond that, follow the advice given for how to then extend your stay. Of course, if you decide to just make a quick roundtrip trip out, that solves both problems.

Dont worry, maybe a 1000b fine, they waive the first day anyway
never, I say NEVER go on overstay if you know and can avoid it

To extend is simple. The only issue is if you havent come to Thailand yet you are likely to get stopped at airport check in and asked to show a flight out within 30 days. (You might get away with it but not likely). Id get a cheap flight ready to book say with air asia to kuala lumpur, about 40 quid just in case you need to book it at check in. Youll then have to right the 40 quid off. Not the end of the world
so if its not 100% than why wouldnt you warn someone who is clearly unsure and prepare them for that possibility so theres no big panic at check in ? Ive been asked and i had a TR
Hopefully someone that was considering following your experience but got an onward flight just in case and it came to pass that they required it to fly.
I’ve traveled into Thailand for years and have never been asked to show onward flights. Maybe it depends on the airline. ? And yes, it’s very easy to get an extension to the 30 day visa exemption.
