Hey guys so I overstayed. I thought I could be there 45 but just learned it’s 30. I have overstayed 10 days. I’m going to the immigration tomorrow to pay my fine. Will they let me apply for a visa? I would like to stay as long as possible. What would be my best option?

Thank you so much!!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual has overstayed their visa in Thailand by 10 days and is seeking information on their options for applying for a visa. Responses indicate that while it's uncertain if they can extend their stay due to the overstay, options include applying for a 30-day tourism extension after paying the overstay fine. They should be polite and humble when dealing with immigration officers, as the outcome can vary based on the officer's discretion. It's also emphasized that applying for a new visa in-country is not possible while overstaying. Clear penalties for overstaying are outlined, including potential maximum fines and blacklisting.

I think this is done. Overstay rules are clear as everybody signs the paper that they understand the rules when they apply for an Extension of Stay.

Make sure you do not overstay, if you overstay, you pay the fine at 500 Thb a day with a maximum of 20.000 thb.

Depending on length of overstay there is also a black list period.

You do not get a new visa if you pay the fine, you have to apply for a new visa or new Extension of Stay by meeting the requirements or leave the country.

Good luck.

It's such a crapshoot with who the officer is. Be humble, sincere, and dress conservatively.

Damn! Just be polite, play dumb and innocent infront of the immigration officers, perhaps they will listen to you and let you apply for an extension.

If you entered Thailand on visa-exempt, you are eligible for a 30days tourism extension. But it's between you and the immigration officer if you could get it (and it might start the day your entry stamp expired) after paying an overstay fine.

The worst-case scenario could be you get a 7days stamp to leave the country, and with that, you have no other option than to leave.

There was amnesty for overstaying within last December, in the best case, your overstay could be cut a few days, still, it wouldn't be erased.

Prepare for the worst, pray for the best, and play nicely.

BTW, You will be applying for an extension, not a visa. If you are thinking to apply new non-immigrant visa in-country, no, you cannot apply for an in-country visa when you are overstaying.

Are you talking about the overstay amnesty, or the unable to travel due to covid extension.

People say both and think they are the same thing. .

, they are different. Overstay amnesty was only applied from 7 Dec to 31 Dec and it was for you to leave the country within the last year. So no more.

Covid extension is for 60days extension based on being unable to travel due to the covid situation and currently the last day you can apply for it is 25 Jan.

Maybe not for standard case, but you'd better bring TM30 receipt. Be sure you have Tm6 departure card.

Other copies and photos can be got at Immigration office if you don't have.

You should bring the following for a 30 day extension of stay based on tourism:

1. Your passport and:

a. a copy of your data ("picture") page

b. a copy of your most recent visa (if you have one)

c. a copy of your most recent stamp

d. a copy of your departure card

2. [May not be asked at Bangkok Immigration] A TM30, filed in the immigration office.

3. The forms (each immigration office may have different forms, and want to use their special forms). For Bangkok Immigration, they are found at the "Files" section in the group.

4. 1x passport pictures

5. 1,900 THB.

You will also pay an overstay fine of 500THB a day, which should be 5,500 THB (500 THB times 11 days).
