Hey everyone 👋

I need to leave the country on April 21st or 22nd for an exit stamp (60 days + 30 day extension is up on my multiple entry tourist visa)

I am in Phuket and I want to go to Ranong, but I am afraid of dying if I go in a minivan. I've seen all the posts here - not keen on it!

Does anyone have any reasonable suggestions on how else I could get there?

I do not want to fly out of the country. Trying to avoid having to fly to Penang or KL.

(I am from Chiang Mai but in Phuket for 2 months so I am not 100% sure on the best way to do visa runs here)

Thank you! All advice is appreciated :)

Good luck with that ride. At least 6 or 8 hours. Sore ass definitely. Hope you are using a bigger bike and not some 110cc Scoopi.

Check your rental agreement because most don't let you take bike off the island.

So do you have an answer to the question I asked or do you just hang around to assume things about people? Like do you actually think I go somewhere and have no idea how long it takes, where to go or if it‘s possible at all? 😂

I have my own bike (funny that you assume I don‘t?!). Regardless of that, I‘m only doing it because a friend is driving there and I prefer to have company on these horrible border runs. I would go on a short holiday if I was alone but I always prefer the company over the destination itself.

I don‘t wanna open another thread for this question as it is related:

I‘m going to Ranong by motorbike in around a week. Does anybody know what time the border opens/closes?

Fly to Udon Thani, sometimes for less than 3,000 Baht round trip. Go straight to the border from airport for 200 Baht. Cross bridge and return (same day to Thailand but not enough time for flight).

Or better yet, enjoy Vientiane for a few days. It's actually a lovely place.

Rent a car - go with friends at a safe pace

Accidents. I have been here for more than ten years. I am still alive.

Flying is the safest way ,if you are afraid of dying. I am scared of motorbikes. Try to get over your fear. Not all minivans have accideng s
