As far as travel to and from, this is the thai VISA advice group, not the how can I get to the ranong border from Hua Hin group.

Google is your friend, this group is not. OR post in a Hua Hin related f/b group. Sorry. :/

IF you haven't gotten two 30 day visa exempt entries by land so far this year you could bounce out and back at Ranong to get a new 30 day visa exempt entry.

There are reports that people were being asked to show 20K baht or the equivalent in cash when stamping back into thailand (but the reports are sporadic).
