When I extend my Non O visa to 12 mths multi entry. Do I have to then just report to immigration in person every 90 days until I extend again? Also if I'm out of the country for a month or two when supposed to do 90 day report, is that not a problem the reporting just starts from when I return? Tia
Answer summary
When you extend your Non-O visa to a 12-month multiple entry visa, you are required to report to immigration in person every 90 days. If you are outside the country during your reporting date, the requirement to report starts again upon your return to Thailand.

Thailand is attracting more wealthier retirees these days. If you own a house in a western country, have a pension and $300- $500,000 savings/investments which many do have, you can live and get by okay in the west but in Thailand you can live very well with a lifestyle you won't get in Australia or the UK. If you have only a pension coming in its survival in Thailand, but still better than living on your pension in Australia or the UK where rent will use up all your pension, so maybe Cambodia would be better than Thailand in that case. It depends, just like in the west how much money do you have.

When I read a lot of comments its sounds like so many expats move not to live in Thailand but somewhere cheaper than home but still wanting the benefits of the western lifestyle. In that case Thailand would be better than Cambodia, but if only cheap living is what you want then go to Somalia.

Trying to compare Thailand to Scambodia is wild. Of course there's "easier" access to many other SEA countries with less restrictions for entry. Imagine a premium five star hotel lowering their prices to match a rundown motel. 🙄

I would say yes, after having left Thailand after 30 years. Cambodia would be way less hassle, but not as good in terms of infrastructure.

If you have 150k USD I would say for peace if mind and stability Malaysias 2nd home would be better than both. That is if you want to keep your money safe.

Though if you plan to drink yourself to death Thailand is ideal.

In Laos is also very easy to get a one year visa. No 90 day reporting, no hassle.

Honestly! If you are rich and don't need to worry about money any country is also great for retirement, unfortunately once the bank account fall to very low then will face big big problem because no money no talk.

So have to plan future and not only today or tomorrow mate.

Wish you good luck and enjoy your holiday

Dave Bolton You're an imbecile. People responsible for that are mostly dead. You think a country with over half its population under age 30 had anyhing to do with that? These people today are the onces rebuilding the once poorest nation in the world. Thailand gave refuge to the Khmer Rouge, by the way. You don't know the score.

You Can Get Long Term Visa's Alot Easier In Cambodia, If That's Your Thing...DoNot Get Sick In Cambodia- Its 10 Hrs. By Car To Get To A Decent Thailand Hospital ! They Are Getting Better Private Hospitals In Cambodia, But I've Been Hearing That For Yrs ! If You Need Good Medical, Thailand Is Still The Place IMO.

Todd McGowan I was in Sihanoukville last year. It's not that bad anymore. Otres beach is better than Jomtien and Pattaya. Water looks kind of clear. And the Chinese have alot of shops where you can find stuff you need not expensive.

Much better than Siem Reap imo.

I wasn't impressed by Kep beach at all and in Kampot I couldn't find any.

Todd McGowan I heard if you go to the old part of town where there are the original development it is still nice.

Darren Grist Kampot is indeed the bigger town. Kep is a gorgeous beach with nice views out to Phu Quoc. Drive to Kampot in 25 mins if you want the town. The real gen there used to be Otres beach. But Chinese developers literally tore the coolest little beach town down and made it a resort town. Not sure I will go back. And Sihanoukville is just grim.
