Do I need an appointment and what documents are required for a 30 day visa extension in Thailand?

On a 45 day exempt from USA. The exempt runs out March 8 so I'll be going to CW on Friday the 6th for the 30 day extension. A couple questions:

1. Do i need to schedule an appointment?

2. EXACTLY what documents do I need to bring?

3. Do they still have copy centers in the basement?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has questions about filing for a 30-day extension of a visa exemption in Thailand, specifically about the need for an appointment and required documents at the Chaengwattana Immigration office. It has been mentioned that individuals who entered Thailand on a visa exemption should actually go to the Muang Thong Thani Immigration office instead of Chaengwattana. Additionally, a comment confirms that there are copy centers available in the basement of the office.

Okay let's get you sorted out (and sorry if I am repeating anything, I didn't read the previous posts :P)

FIRST you DO NOT go to Chaengwattana :O you go to the Muang Thong Thani Immigration office here

because you came in on a visa exempt entry you go to counter K out there and it CAN be busy.

You can (although it is not mandatory) make an appointment here at this website

I’m pretty certain that if you came visa exempt you go to Muang Thong Thani for your extension not CW. I’ll let others more familiar with Bangkok rules confirm.

not sure if Tod’s around still, you may have to wait until morning time here for others to confirm, but I’m 99% certain that visa exempt (and tourist visas) use MTT.

copy of passport data page, copy of latest entry stamp, copy of TM6 , proof of filed TM30, filled out TM7 and STM2 overstay declaration. Passport photo and 1,900 baht. Some offices may differ on specific requirements, but in general that’s what they’d want to see.

thanks so much...on the plane they didn't give me the arrival card (tm6?) And immigration didn't ask 4 it...I own my own condo so my wife filled it out but I thought I'd file it when I went for the extension...your thoughts?

I’m guessing you’re mixing up some stuff. Everyone (other than Thai nationals) has to fill out a TM6 ( arrival / departure card). They keep the arrival part and usually staple the departure card into your passport. The TM30 is declaration of where you are staying. Should be done within 24 hours of arrival at the place. Usually it’s the job of the landlord/owner to do it, but many won’t or have no clue they should, so you can self file at immigration. There’s a fine if you file it late, but it doesn’t matter if you file it 24 hours late or 3 months late. Same fine.

that would be highly unusual. I’m not saying it couldn’t happen but very strange. It’s needed for almost every thing to do with immigration stuff, extensions, 90 day reporting and the like. Perhaps you’d need to visit your local immigration office and explain that you were never given a TM6 and ask for a new one.

usually yes by asking your local office. Depending on your initial entry visa they may ask that you file a police report stating that you lost the original. For most “tourists” that’s not needed and they’ll just issue another one, but for long term visa holders it’s likely that they’d ask.

she can’t. The system is down. No one knows when/if it’ll be back up. You’d have to self file in person.

not sure what you mean here. Show up with what? If you haven’t got a TM6 you can’t show up with it.

you shouldn't have a problem filing a TM30 out at MTT immigration office if they require it. You do that at Counter B

AND just so you know IF you already lost your TM6 departure cared (which believe me you had to have to enter the country) ;) you should GO to a police station and get a police report. It's free

They will most likely ask you for it when you go to file for your extension at MTT. Believe me you're not the first foreigner who lost their departure card in the history of thailand

I can’t really comment on that. Not sure if they’d accept or not.

yes. Many many people do. So they’re not unused to the fact that “joe bloggs” hasn’t got his. However because it’s needed for many things that a long term stayer will need some offices require a police report saying they lost theirs before they’ll issue a new one.

you are confusing Chaengwattana Immigration office with the place that someone on a visa exempt or tourist visa entry goes to apply for an extension which is the Muang Thong Thani Immigration office and there is only ONE copy area there right after you go in, which is also the place they take photos sell water and cup of noodle soup too :P
