Hey hey I want to share what happened to me when I tried to get the covid extension for my STV in Bangkok.

I had all documents and when I was in front of the officer at the desk, they asked me why I wanted to extend and like a dork I said "huhh I don't know, tourism because I have a STV visa".

Result : I got denied the covid extension and they told me I needed hard proof, a canceled plane ticket or a letter from my embassy saying I can't come back.

Could any of you guys confirm whether or not I can simply say that life in my country right now sucks because of covid and that hospitals are kinda full (which is true), which makes it a terrible idea to go back anyways?

Cheers!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user shared their experience of being denied a COVID-19 extension for their Special Tourist Visa (STV) in Bangkok, stating that although they had the required documents, they didn't provide a valid reason for the extension. Immigration officials indicated that valid proof, such as a canceled flight or an embassy letter stating inability to return, was necessary. Other commenters confirmed that simply expressing concerns about the situation in their home country would not suffice as valid proof for the extension.

It would seem from the data that France is actually much safer than Thailand for Covid.

I see no reason for keeping commenting open.

- A person can not pick-and-choose the immigration office they want to use for an extension of stay.

- The STV only allows a person to stay for 270 days, OR to get an extension of stay based on STV on September 30, 2021.

- I have seen no proof of anyone being rejected (as in, a 7 day extension of stay denied stamp), OR being approved for this extension of stay based on an STV.

If anyone disagrees, send a mod a message. Thank you.

Bangkok Immigration told you exactly what they need for you to be issued a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19. You will need:

"Hard proof, a canceled plane ticket or a letter from my embassy saying I can't come back."

Get either one of those documents and return to the immigration office. They should be able to grant you the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 from an STV.

I have NOT seen any proof of anyone getting a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to STV, and I have NOT seen any proof of anyone being formally rejected for this extension of stay either.

Give Bangkok what they want, and you should be able to get the extension of stay.

I can confirm that is not what Bangkok Immigration wants as proof ๐Ÿ˜•
