Hi, everyone.
Does anyone have experience of traveling to Thailand when they have recently recovered from Covid?
The official guidance states:
- If you have recovered from being infected from COVID-19 and the RT-PCR test before travelling is still positive, travellers need to show a medical record (issued within 3 months) stating that they have recovered from COVID-19. May be vaccinated with only one dose if fully recovered from COVID-19.
- If you have been fully vaccinated before being infected, you can use your vaccine certificates to enter the country as "fully vaccinated" and a medical record (issued within 3 months) stating that they have recovered from COVID-19.
All those who have been infected will have to take a RT-PCR test before travelling as stated in No. 2.
Questions
1. The last asterisked part seems to counter the advice above it. Should I read it that you still have to go through the formality of taking the pre-departure (even though it may still show as positive), but the fit-to-fly certificate issued by a medical professional will over-ride that?
2. I assume you will still have to undergo PCR tests on arrival. As they may also come back positive, would that automatically mean a shift to an official hospital if you have entered under the Phuket Sandbox? Or would the fit-to-fly certificate over-ride that, too?
Thanks in advance for any advice on this.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the travel requirements for entering Thailand after recovering from Covid-19. Key points include the need for a pre-departure RT-PCR test, even if one has a positive result due to recent infection, and the requirement for a medical certificate confirming recovery. The participants also highlight concerns about potential positive tests on arrival and the implications of testing positive under the Phuket Sandbox program, where travelers may need to stay in a hospital or designated hotel.
