TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around warnings against traveling to Thailand due to existing COVID-19 restrictions, including testing and quarantine requirements. Comments express frustrations over quarantine practices, perceived extortion regarding testing costs, and recent travel experiences. There is also mention of Denmark dropping all COVID-related restrictions, prompting discussions about global approaches to handling the pandemic. Some participants suggest choosing countries with more favorable policies rather than criticizing Thailand's measures.

In Phuket, at a local test clinic, I paid for my own PCR Test and tested positive for COVID (mid January “COVID detected”), but never reported it to a hotel or hospital …. I changed my flight and extended my holiday for another 8 days, took another PCR Test and tested Negative …

If you pay for the COVID PCR test independently, it seems likely the results won’t be reported to “Thai authorities” to have you quarantined…

Cheap method of extorsion. Pay $3000 and get locked up for 10 days if you test positive. Many people will test positive with new variants. Tourists have a choice of other countries. What about the people who live there?

Just fly to the country that you feel comfortable with and ... Bingo ... you will be wasting lesser time bashing Thailand.

Denmark 🇩🇰 has announced to drop ALL covid related restrictions and laws! It seems omicron can not be stopped or managed, so they decided to let it go in the population to gain natural immunity. Right or wrong, time will tell.

Article is not well researched... This was the case months ago... A friend of mine just tested positive yesterday in Phuket. 10 days hotel quarantine and total cost 37k THB. You have the right to refuse any unnecessary hospital treatment... I

They don't care if you are sick. They care if you go make someone else sick. I don't think there should be quarantines but that is the logic you might be missing.
