TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a Non-Immigrant O visa based on marriage to a Thai national, you generally do not need to show a specific amount in a UK bank account. However, it is suggested that having around £1,500 is sufficient for the application. For extensions after obtaining the visa, you need to show at least 400,000 THB in a Thai bank account for a minimum of two months to qualify for a one-year extension. While the rules may have been flexible, it's advised to stay updated, especially due to changes from the COVID-19 situation.

I’ve just done the process and arrived in Thailand yesterday. If you are married and apply for a non immigrant o visa you have to show three months statements and can only stay in the country for a max 270 days. If you apply for a married visa you have to have 400.000B In thai bank. Hope this helps and good luck.

The single entry Non Imm O visa allows you 90 days in the country, this gives you enough time to season 400,000bt in a Thai bank account allowing you to apply for a 1 year extention of stay based on being married to a Thai national. This is NOT a 'marriage visa', in fact it's not a visa at all, it's what it says, an extention of stay.

You are correct about the 90 days. When I applied for my visa (non imm o) in mid Oct the Embassey said I could to extend my visa two more times in Thailand to a max of 270 days or apply for something different while in Thailand. Not sure yet what to apply for but going by what you said sounds good, thanks Steve

We applied for a non O visa for my husband approx 7 days before we flew to Thailand. First we thought we need to leave 400k in thai bank hence we waited (wasted) 2 months before applying for a visa to be told he only need to have at least £1,500 in his UK bank to apply for a non O visa. Obviously you will need a few support docs from your wife too. You can apply for visa online so no need to go to embassy in London. We did it in person and picked up visa the next day (we left UK just 3 weeks ago, not sure if rules are still the same). You can ring Thai embassy for more info.

I think you need to check with Embassy in UK you can contact them on facebook easiest.

Applications have been different since covid times

I came in at same time as a friend and we both applied non o marriage i showed my Thai bank account with sufficient funds and he showed his local bank account with sufficient funds (

0 baht).

As people have said if you want to extend your visa when you arrive you need the money in Thai bank account for at least two months

There’s no specific amount in the U.K. account to get a Non O for marriage/family, you just need to show some funds. They’re not too strict.

You don’t need any money in a Thai bank to get the visa but if you end up getting an annual extension in Thailand you’ll need at least 400k baht in your Thai account for at least a couple of months before.

Hi David have you got visa in UK since covid started ?
Paul *******
I think you don't need to show money in your bank to apply for a non immigrants 'O' visa based on marriage.. But you may need to show funds if you want to extend it for a year. And I think it's about 400,000B to extend it.. but I'm not extirely sure.
Paul *******
Yes.

There are 2 financial requirements to extend a marriage visa - you need to fulfil one or the other.

Either : 400,000 in a Thai bank that you simply do not ever go below. Or 40,000 or more (not 1 baht less) EVERY month going into your Thai bank FROM ABROAD.
Paul *******
I think it's an income each month for the last 12 months of at least 40,000 B.... To do the extension.. But just for the visa which you for stay here for 4 months on.. You just pay the visa application fee. Show your wife's i.d card and marriage certificate.

If you’ve got enough for her to marry you, you’ve got enough for a visa!
