Hey guys, can anyone clarify the cash requirements for yearly renewal of non o visa based on marriage to Thai national, previous years I have had over 400k in bank plus monthly salary, at 50k,

This year I will not be able to show the 400k but can provide copies of salary/ tax payments at 50k, do you think that this would be an issue?

Appreciate your thoughts

TLDR : Answer Summary
The cash requirements for renewing a non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai national can be met through various methods. Traditionally, applicants must show either 400K THB in a Thai bank account for two months prior to the application, or proof of monthly income of at least 40K THB for twelve months. If an income affidavit is provided from your embassy, that can be used instead of monthly bank transfers. It's worth noting that there's no combination of methods: you must meet one of the outlined proofs of funds to qualify for the extension.

he is from the UK, his embassy doesn't make up the affidavit, so he needs his Thai bank give him the letter, i.e. documents which prove 12 months of transfers from abroad into his Thai bank account over a minimum of 40,000 THB every month

@Gre***
he's using wages earned inside thailand via employment here to show monthly income :)

he definitely wrote the income is from the UK . . . . "Patrick Spencer:

From which country is 50K OK for a salary for a Farang for visa purposes?" . . ."Lee Wrigglesworth:

Patrick Spencer, UK. 50k thb per month" . . .to me it looks like he said the income is "from" the UK

just so we're clear, you're know that option 3 is showing income from legally working IN thailand on a work permit right?

Okay, lets sort this out right now

There are THREE basic ways you can meet proof of funds for a yearly extension based on marriage;

1 - you bank 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you APPLY for your new extension (not 2 months before your current stamp runs out)

2 - IF your embassy issues the affidavit of income from abroad notary letter you get that stating you get more than 40K baht a month income from abroad OR if they don't issue it you transfer IN to a thai bank account in your name only a minimum of 40K baht each month EVERY month for the previous 12 months before you apply for your extension

OR

3 - you legally work here with a work permit and show proof that your salary is at least 40K baht a month for a minimum of 3 months before you apply for the extension.

There is no combination method, and if your embassy issues the income affidavit you cannot show proof of funds by monthly transfers you have to use the embassy letter.

@L**
it is a PILE of paperwork to show you meet the monthly income via salary inside the country for a marriage extension.

I'd recommend you and your thai wife slog on over to the immigration office BEFORE you need to apply for the extension and get the exact document requirements to pull it off in one try.

Good luck, take care, stay safe (y)

Ask your Thai immigration office

You may be able to obtain the one year extension by showing the income and tax payments made during past 12 months.
