Recently arrived in Thailand on a 90-day Non-immigrant "O" visa (married to Thai national, US passport ). My wife's employer here told me I need to have 400,000 baht in a Thai bank for at least 2 months in order to request visa extension of up to a year. I have seen others on this page refer to an 800,000 baht bank requirement. Is it 400k or 800k?
I am new at this.
Thanks.
TLDR : Answer Summary
If you are applying for a 1-year extension of a Non-immigrant 'O' visa based on marriage to a Thai national, you need to have 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account in your name for at least two months prior to the application date. The 800,000 baht requirement applies to extensions based on retirement, not marriage.
