When I first apply for an extension in Thailand of an โ€œOโ€ visa based on marriage, must I have 400,000 in a Thai bank for 2 months beforehand - OR can I show a monthly income from overseas into a Thai bank of at least 40,000 (going back for a year)?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for an extension of an 'O' visa based on marriage in Thailand, there are several options to meet the financial requirements. You can either maintain a minimum balance of 400,000 THB in a Thai bank account for at least 2 months prior to the application or provide evidence of a monthly income of at least 40,000 THB from overseas, supported by a consistent record over the last 12 months. Alternatively, you could submit tax and SSO payments for a minimum salary in Thailand of 40,000 THB for three months.

There are different ways to meet the Financial requirements:

1. or minimum 400.000 Thb on a Thai bank account at least 2 months prior application date, some offices will ask to keep the money in the bank during the 30 days under consideration period.

2. or The income affidavit from your Embassy, with a minimum monthly foreign income of 40.000 Thb

3. or if you embassy does not provide this service, at least 12 months of foreign deposits into a Thai bank of minimum 40.000 Thb a month

4. or 3 months of Tax and SSO payments of a salary made inside of Thailand of at least 40.000 Thb and your work permit.
