TLDR : Answer Summary
For a Non-O visa application in Thailand, the financial requirements differ based on marital status. If the applicant is married to a Thai citizen, they must have a minimum pension of 45,000 THB per month. If not married to a Thai citizen, the requirement increases to 65,000 THB per month. Alternatively, applicants can maintain 800,000 THB in a Thai bank account for a two-month period prior to the application. Additionally, it is essential for applicants seeking a long-term extension based on a Thai child to have legal parental rights.

Got this letter from the consulate a bit strange since it is 5000 THB different or is married and taking care children not the same?

If the applicant is married to a Thai citizen, the minimum pension before taxes must be 45,000 baht per month. If the applicant is not married to a Thai citizen, the minimum pension before taxes must be 65,000 baht per month. An option for an applicant who is not married to a Thai citizen is to have 800,000 baht in a bank account in Thailand two months prior to application date.,

check detail. it sounds like they make a rough calculation for securing a minimum 40K as 'your' money.(it says BEFORE tax).

1. What consulate did you ask?

2. Did you ask your immigration office to confirm?

An EXCELLENT rule to remember is NEVER trust what a Thai consulate says about getting an extension of stay, and NEVER trust what a Thai immigration office says about getting a visa outside of Thailand. And NEVER, EVER trust what YOUR country's embassy says about getting a visa or extension of stay IN THAILAND.

what stamp are you currently here in thailand on now? I ask because in order to get a 90 day Non-O at most offices you need 15 or more days left on your current entry/extension stamp (Chiang Mai requires 21 days or more left to apply)

okay now that we hashed out that the O/P is from a country that still issues income affidavit notary letters to show proof of income the real question for them getting a year extension OR even a non-O visa inside the country based on being the father of a half thai child born out of wedlock IS

DO you hold legal parental rights (granted thru family court decree OR from the amphur if the child is old enough)?

You can't get a year long extension of stay based on raising a half thai child born out of wedlock without holding legal parental rights.
