Hello Thai visa members/advisors, Please, could someone tell me the financial amounts needed with applying for a Non-O (married to a Thai national) visa. My wife tells me that (now) $400,000 baht...plus income of 40, 000 baht is needed. Is this true?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a Non-O visa (married to a Thai national), you have two financial options: show a minimum of 400,000 baht deposited in a Thai bank account for at least two months prior to application, or demonstrate a monthly income of at least 40,000 baht. It's not necessary to meet both requirements simultaneously. Depending on where you apply for the visa (inside or outside Thailand) and your visa type (extension or initial), the requirements may vary slightly.

How about stating WHERE you're going to get the initial Non-O visa (inside or outside thailand) and what immigration office you're going to apply for the yearly extension of stay ...
Robert *******
Glad you got it, i'm lost. Where do you like to apply for the Non Immigrant O visa based on being married to a Thai National.
Roger ********
Thank you Robert for your clarification, it is very helpful.

@Roger *******
if you like to change you can also apply for a new Extension of Stay based on being married to a Thai National and than you need a minimum of 400.000 Thb at least 2 months prior your application date on a Thai bank in your name or the least 12 months prior your application a foreign deposit of minimum 40.000 Thb monthly into a Thai bank account on your name,

Roger Abbott It seems that last year you applied for an Extension of Stay based on being over 50 years of age and used the financial proofs of 65.000 Thb monthly income. Seeing that your are from the UK, your Embassy does not provide this income affidavit anymore so if you like to apply in a few months again for a new Extension of Stay based on being over 50 years you need to provide: For the last 12 months prior your application a foreign deposit of minimum 65.000 Thb monthly into a Thai bank account on your name, or at least 2 months prior your application date till at least 3 months after your application date a minimum of 800.000 Thb into a Thai bank account on your name and the balance can not go lower than 400.000 Thb during the rest of the year of your Extension of Stay.

I've been married to a Thai lady for nearly nineteen years and I'm over 50 and we live in Chiang Rai and in a few months time I need to extend my O visa for a year for a second time, whereby last year the 65,000 baht figure was applicable so I'd assumed this was still the case. (?)

Ok,but...just to be clear in my head: Either I can show 400,000 deposited in a Thai bank account or show income of 40,000 baht a month with the first attempt of applying for this visa, but not necessary to have both...correct?
Arve ****************
Ricardo Galbis not exectly 2 months, it is minimum 2 months.

When you get a non-o based on marrige you get 3 months.

So just put in the money when you arrive in Thailand, and apply for an extention when they have stayed in the bank for 60 days....

Thank you.

@Roger *******
no, the minimum income of 65.000 Thb is needed for a visa or Extension of Stay if you apply at your immigration office based on being over 50 years of age and 40.000 Thb if it is based on being married to a Thai National.

I was under the impression that the monthly income minimum amount is 65,000 baht so has this now been reduced to 40,000 baht?

Antonio Ciampitti Hi thanks for the info. Does it have to be exactly 2 months? Or can it be more? My question is whether it is ok if the 400.000 are seasoned more than 2 months. Thanks in advance. (planning to marry with my girlfriend next year).

Got it. Mucho gracias...

To my knowledge, that's for the extension of stay. Some consulates may want to see a bank book showing that for the initial Non-O, and some don't (i.e. HCMC).

Either 400k or 40k per mont. just "extend" (corrected) mine 1 months ago

@Richard ******

@Richard ******
i know that but thats not what you talked about
Richard *******
@Henrik **********
That is not what the OP asked in his question. He said he is applying for a non-O visa.
Henrik ***********
@Richard ******
its not a visa its a extention off stay
Richard *******
You cannot renew a visa, you can only apply for a new one.
Henrik ***********

Lauge *************

Understand this, but my new concern is the 40,000 baht (per month) income is needed now for this visa too...?
