how do you change your bank from BKK bank to another with out screwing up your 1 year extension money in the bank method. Have it in a account for years now, but bkk makes getting a statement so difficult , multiple trips to the bank. So any one know how to get an account at a bank that will print out the statement you need on the same day and the certified letter so then I can go to immigration after that, that wont mess up my visa extension
Answer summary
To change your bank account from Bangkok Bank to another bank while maintaining your funds for the visa extension, it's advisable to keep the required amount in Bangkok Bank for a transitional period, usually 3 months, after getting your extension. You can then open an account at a bank known for efficient service, such as Kasikorn or SCB, which can provide bank statements and certified letters quickly. Make sure to leave a portion of the funds in Bangkok Bank as you will need statements from both banks for your next extension application. Always confirm with the specific immigration office about their requirements, as rules can vary.

For 9 years my BKK Bank branch would give me my letters right away. This past visa extension, they were very uncooperative when giving me my 65k monthly deposit letter. I brought printouts of one years worth of statements from the online website with my passbook which showed all my foreign transfers. They told me they had to provide the statements which would take a week. The ones I had were the very same ones they would get anyway. We tried another Bangkok Bank branch and they provided a letter right away. To save myself some grief next year, I opened an account at Kasikorn, who are highly praised for providing foreign deposit letters for long stay purposes.

Chonburi immigration officer told me you can move the money to a new account as long as it's out and in on the same day.

Des Dp Yes, Chonburi (Jomtien) certainly accepts that. Other offices may have their own strange rules though.

If you have the BKK phone app.you can download all statements for the last 12 months. They did away with the website that only went back 6 months.

Ron Henning I could be wrong, but I think immigration want the statement certified by the bank. It is similar to saying here is my bookpass updated today showing all of my transactions and balances for the past year. In my case that is usually one page, as I have a separate account for my 800k visa money. But no, they want a certified statement from the bank, and the bookpass has to have been updated today, yesterday is not acceptable.

I would go into Kasikorn Bank and ask them.

They will be able to move All your money from BKK bank into a new account with them. Making everything traceable shouldn't make any problems with Immigration.

Both Kasikorn and SCB banks are easy banks to deal with.

Depends on the method you use to get your extension

For the 800k method I'd keep the 800k in Bangkok Bank for 3 months after getting the extension then I'd move 400k into a new bank account and once your sure its safely there move the rest but leave a couple of k in bangkok bank as you'll need statements etc from both banks for the next extension

For the 65k method I'd open a new account and start your monthly transfers just before you get your next extension using bangkok bank to ensure you have a full 12 months of transfers with the new bank prior to applying for the following extension. You can do it part way through the period but again will need statements from both banks for the next extension

Quity risky, as in the second bank account that you open, the 400 000 will show up as a local transfer. I believe it's safer that you feed your second bank account minimum balance with an overseas transfer as well, regardless. It's more complicated to do it this way, but far safer

During the 7 months that you only need 400k in the account.. Deposit 400k in a different bank, then top up to 800k 2 months before application of extension. This way you stick to the 400k in your account year round.

I was at Bangkok Bank last year when the accounts got frozen if you didn't have the right visa. so I added money to an account at Siam Commercial Bank which was rejected by immigration because it did not have a passbook, they gave me something called an e-pass book that was rejected by immigration. I had another account at Kasikorn Bank which was also rejected for some undetermined reason. The only one they seem to really readily accept is the 11 out of 12 months of the Bangkok Bank monthly transfer account. fortunately I kept 800,000 in that account waiting until the monthly method was officially accepted and since it was rejected I was relieved to have a backup.

You can get the statements throughout the year via your BKK bank app. The certifications letter is usually issued quite easily on the day I’ve found.

George Holland BKK in Hua Hin will issue 6 month statement same day buy 1 yr is 7 day wait. If someone is frustrated by having to make 2 visits to the bank, 7 days apart once per year, Thailand is going to be a very, very frustrating place to live. But everyone has their own tolerances. I have had Bangkok bank for 5 years in two cities and have never had any problem that made me want to change. But I have read many, many horror stories.

George Holland for the bank statements yes but never had to wait more than half an hour for the certified balance.

The certificate is on the day, bank statements can take a few days if you’re asking for a year’s worth. The request has to go to head office

Mike Timbers they told me a week at my local branch. I went to the BKK branch at Bangkok Immigration and got it the same day but it was only after discussing at length and with a Thai natives assistance that they relented and finally did it.
